I know there are holes in the list, but we can continue to build on this as we go. It's fairly comprehensive thus far, so hopefully this can help those of you who are looking for the general information on these motors. Feel free to offer...
I know its probably been covered a milion times but the searching can be a pain! I don't mind links to help point me the the stuff I am asking about though.
First are my cars, esc's and motors. All 1990's stuff. I have a few radios from then too...

I just checked, they come preset at 0°.
For good brush life and limited wear, I typically run my motors conservatively at 6-8°.
For max power in a buggy, I'd run 15-20°. In a truck, probably no more than 15°. But depending on the application and...
Recently picked up a Trinity Monster Horse Power motor and wanted to check its not a fake label, I remember on this forum a few years back that there was a number of fake motor labels doing the rounds.
Everything looks legit on the motor, but...

Is Trinity stamped on the bottom of the can or no? Good to know. Thanks for posting your motor.
Epic.
If you click on the pics, you can zoom in.
I was talking about at bottom of the can, not on the endbell.
As I have been reminiscing about the British heatsink ESC era, and steadily collecting up a few Demon and Nosram esc's, I have started also looking into Laser offerings, mainly due to a build I am working on which originally pictured in late 80's...

For comparison, here's the earlier pre-FET Laser Compact (i believe it to be this model or very similar), the layout is the same as above with the relays on the opposite side of the board.
I'm not so assiduous in posting here (but I lurk alot), I need infos about the LRP Motor shown below (model, year).
I bought it new in pack som years ago (and another some weeks ago) and the only extra info is a handwritten label sticked on the...

This is the second LRP Super Series I've bough several week ago and destinated to my Tamiya TA01 restomod project. Ony yesterday I've found some time to open it... it's full of wire! 13x6 turn of 0,25 wire if I'm not wrong.
I bought a vintage Novak Duster ESC which is rated at 250A. I read that it can handle 14t motors at 7.2V.
What does it change if I use it at 4.8V? Can I use a lower turn motor in this configuration (let's say 12t)?
This pair just arrived through the post. Pretty rare even over in the UK, dating from 86-87. If they're good enough for Jamie Booth, then they're good enough for me 8)

I have another write up from mid-88 also, again featuring Rory and mentioning his Proking... this time it specifically states that it is a forward-only version, which again gets me thinking that this is the same unit I now have.
I just picked up a Schumacher C-car, and it came with this beauty from 1981.
Before my time I started racing in 1985, My first speed control was a Demon king 6x BUZ11 fets although I recall upgrading it to proking spec by installing the other 2...

Interesting dating and unit number comparison there if you think about it.
Mine was unit number 780 from week 40, and just 3 weeks later yours was unit number 831. So 51 units between them. I am guessing Nick wasn't making various speedo models at...
So, with the recent untimely passing of Nick Adams of Demon, I have taken a bit of an interest in his motors recently, and in particular, with a few 1986-ish builds on the go i have been focusing more on his 1986 offerings, which as it turns out...

Hi Francis (I sent you a PM btw) - yes i think you could be correct there. My HT is a silver can version and just says 'Single HT' on the label.
As i was just starting out in RC all of the tech tables listed 'Demon Mr.T' motors leading the way, and...
With my 3000mah NiMh batteries, I feel like I'm pushing the temperature limits of my brushed motors. That's the main reason I don't move up to higher rated batteries. Every time I search up heat sinks, I come across a bunch of heat sinks with fans...

Without going through a full battery, I did a spot check of the temperatures. My son running the 7 cell was hottest at 223 F. Father in law was 209 F. Mine was 190 F. Hmm, BITD with NiCd I would bring a crew packs with me to do back to back runs. Of...
I used one of these for many years back in the day - probably my fave charger. Oh so simple.... I recently picked up this pair - one from the legend that is Richard Isherwood. He told me Glyn Peglar had revised the thermal sensor bulb on it to...

On the PC1 the red light comes on when you connect the pack and press the button then the green light comes on when it peaks. I assume the PC3 is the same but haven't tried it.
I’m trying to find out what this motor is, and what era (years) its from. Mainly trying to figure out what turns and winds it could be as well. Please help ! DBAC0B5C-1593-4ACB-8B8E-43818A3D8657.jpeg 5D1E317F-7AAE-47D3-A776-A895AF219212.jpeg

That's been a major hurdle I've found while going down the rabbit hole of brushed motors as it pertains to identification. Manufactures used the same cans and decals as a time and cost cutting measure I imagine which makes it hard to know what's...
Hi all, I've just bought for a few of bucks a Trinity Tru Lathe (RC4104) and I need a pair of infos:

I used to race back in the 90's and can remember I used primarily two motors. One was an Orange Brushed LRP motor and the other a Black Brushed LRP motor. Do anyone know how many turns these motors were? I tried to search a bit on the net, but no...

This is awesome. Thank you. Now I can see the “Magic” is 11x3. Still pondering what the Black might be though.
Had to share with the group....was searching for a Magnum Junior and a couple S-132H's for a while now....but ebay found this Senior in good condition with all the goodies, 2x S-132H's, original battery trays, charger, extension cord and plastic...

I think i got them with my mates optima mid TOMS conversion kit way back in the 80's
They had yellow sce versions come out later as well but ive never seen one in person.

I don't suppose anyone has a link to the manual for this motor? I'm interested in how check it's condition / what's replaceable in it.

Kind of. My son has taken ownership of my car. It's been waiting for renewed interest and he's enjoying it. It may be that the motor needs a refresh. I think it's probably fine but I'm not sure how to check.
I have a couple of 94145 servos I need to have repaired. Does anyone know where I might find someone who can take a look at them?

For the most part Servo's are not economical to repair. If the motor or the potentiometer are bad sourcing a replacement would be almost impossible. That said, they can be repaired. I recently repaired a airtronics 94151, I had to reverse engineer...
I remember BITD that Tower had a cheap pistol radio they sold. I can't find a picture of it. It either just said Tower hobbies or may have said Pulsar. There may have been the Pulsar and the Tower Hobbies pistol also. Did Kyosho make the Pulsar...

Completely forgot to mention the original radio that came with it, the wheel seems tight though. It turns left and right just fine, just slow to center.
Band 4 crystal installed and the factory test sticker is still on the top.
Anyone seen one of these? It from an Ultima that was raced be for my dad bought it about 20 years ago. I cannot find ANY information on it. It says Trinity on the plastic.
the Ultima was raced on some level before my dad got it. It has thin brushes.

I’m new to the whole RC car thing. I have just managed to prise my Dads Tamiya Fox 1980’s original off him and have been playing with it with my 10 year old son.

If you are certain the pot is the problem, you can still find the 2210 wheel assembly for sale. There are a few on eBay right now.

anyone would have the winds of the different LRP E series? I have a Pink E and a white E in their period tubes (yummmm) in my motor box that I have absolutely no idea about which winds they are (except if doubles/singles/triples of course)....

Highest that I have seen are 15x7 from HPI UNO and ABC M&Y (with nice twisted winding) motors:

Or sell the 2 Tekin keypad ESCs and buy what ever you want.
Yup.

They definitely had the goods when it came to brushed. I have a NIB V7 and V8 here at home, plus a QC3 which was an amazing bit of gear and now highly sought after for vintage rac8ng.

Back in the 90s I used to have a motor dyno that I would like to find again.
From what I can remember it was about 6x9x2 in size. Two sweep needles One for amps and one for rpm. The motor sat facing into the box and was held with 3 finger screws....

The Shinwa Motor Dresser allowed you to measure amp draw versus rpm. I was great when determining the differences in brush cuts and motor timing.
I've got a tekin ESC with torque control but I'm so ignorant I'm not sure what it does ? Many of them have this feature is it like a modern punch control ?
I just purchased a Novak T4 esc that looks to be nos. Any pros and cons to this one?
Does it have reverse? Going in an 84 rc10. Thanks

Here's a link for the Novak T1 & T4 manual if you'd like. I just purchased a couple Novak ESC's for a couple of my older RC's. Was going to get a T1 and Duster, but got a Rooster and a Super Rooster due to the Roosters having reverse.
This is the only slot brush conversion MG motor i have ever come across, sourced from an ex-MG and Yokomo team driver Ian Oddie. It has some beautiful endbell detailing, as per the occasional Trinity slot conversions, and the Sagami lettering on the...

At one point it was pretty much Sagami (for Yokomo) and Tokyo Mechs (trinity) as rc car motor base component manufacturers from what I understand. There had to be some others but those were the two top companies. I'm not sure where Air Supply (CAM,...
Are there any advantages or disadvantages to add one of the external capacitors or cap banks to my early esc's? The ones that attach to the battery wires, not a shudder stopper.

On many of the stock motors, look for visual clues. Different cans and endbell designs were often used on different iterations.
