Two nights ago, I was removing paint from an old kyosho driver figure with oven cleaner (caustic lye). Got distracted for a split second and splashed myself in the eye. I have to say, that was one of the most unpleasant sensations I have felt in my life. My eye is still all bloodshot from the incident. Luckily, it was just a drop......

Here's my most impressive Dremel accident. I was cutting a piece of plastic using one of the metal circular saw blades. The blade grabbed in the plastic, then sent the saw blade across my other hand that was holding the piece. It popped apart a good 1/4 inch and and sprayed blood up the wall to my left. After 6 years the scar looks like this. It looks worse in real life as it's hard to photograph it.

we might be brothers! haha. mine was not from RC. changing a Ujoint on my 77ford mud truck 12years ago or so. screwdriver sliped.its ok tho. the bone stop it from going any deeper

I worked for the telephone company (Telstra Australia) for nearly ten years, and when soldering, we were always told to wear safety glasses.... you get a bit over it sometimes, and forget... but it took a time while working on rc with the glasses on (Thank Cecil!) to remind me why..... nothing like a big splash of hot molten metal right in the middle of your safety glass lens. Trust me guys, I'll never solder without the safety glasses again....

Non-rc, could tell you the time I did the rear drum brakes on my old Ford Escort.... sitting on the ground, with my head inside the rear wheel arch, with a large pair of long-nose pliers in my hands, trying to put the spring between the drum brake shoes back on...tension on the spring, almost there.... then the pliers slipped. All tension released straight away, and the pliers had to go somewhere.... so they hit me in the right eyebrow, about an inch or less above the eye. Still a scar there today, nearly 20 years on. One thing about that sort of injury, the blood is a much darker, deeper red.....

Then there's the time i was tying down some stuff on a roof rack with my dad, with octopus / occy / bungee straps.... me on one side, him on the other.... whoops, slipped out of his grasp..... straight into the head again!

All these head injuries.... don't seem to have had any effect, Martha......

i've pretty much just had the normal bumps, bruises, cuts, and burns from an rc aspect.

i've been lucky enough to never break any major bones, other than some fingers on a couple of occasion. i've have almost every imaginable substance in my right eye. never my left for some reason. but i'd have to say my worst non rc injury was when i got cracked across the face with a claw hammer (by someone else). the claw caught me through my right eyebrow, and when my head went back, the head of the hammer caught me on the chin. i was bleeding like an SOB. but, ten total stitches later, and i was good to go.

it's been quite some time since it happened, i can still remember how it felt. trust me, it didn't tickle.

I think one of my most bizarre scars (there are too many to mention) is the one on my left index finger. High winds plus kite = one nasty twine burn. It dug to the bone.

My most obvious scar would be the one on my right hand where I cut it about 2 inches to the bone a few months ago. Nasty scar but never felt a thing though. Must have severed the nerves at the root

The stupidest scar by far though is the cross on my left hand. I was told I could not join the Army with a tatoo showing below the wrist. One package of frozen hamburger, an X-acto knife, finger nail clippers and 45 minutes later, viola, tattoo gone

I got two good one, only one was rc, the other was 24th scale slot cars. the first was going to the tool box and getting an exacto knife, I came back over to my workbench and went to slide up on my stool which was covered with and old padded cover. I happened to grab the stool with my right hand, (coicidentally the same hand that was hold the knife) and slide it under me as I was sitting on it in one fluid motion. Well, the heel end of the exacto knife caught it's self in a hole on the stool cushion, and you guessed it, I ploped right down on a near vertial exacto knife. fortunately a good portion of it sunk into the cushion, but I still got the blade and about two inches of handle into the back of my right upper thigh/lower cheek area. funny enough it only took two stitches.
Next dumb move was drilling 1/4" lightening holes in a 1/24 slotworks slot car chassis, with a dull bit and a 1/2" power drill no less without a bench vise in sight. So yeah, I had to really bear down on the drill and hold the chassis tightly in my hand to make the hole. It was about the fourth or fifth hole that I misjudged where the bit was going to come out the other side. It went right into the meaty part of my palm, right below my thumb. fortunately it hit the bone and glance off to the outside, so it was just kind of a big gaping tear in the side of my hand. that one took 6 stitches. I'm a bit more careful and think more on the safe side nowadays then when I was a youngster, so now I keep physical injury to a minimum when I'm hobbying (knocks on wood!!!)

when i was a kid i once drank a healthy mouthfull of gasoline siphoning it out of my grandpa's truck. it stayed 'fresh' inside me for a good 3-4 days, i was constantly tasting it, especially when i would burp...

it tasted alot like tequila, i swear to god.

not rc related, but i shoved a splinter of dried carrot about a half inch up underneath a fingernail cleaning the kitchen. there was a piece of shredded carrot dried and stuck to the kitchen counter. it was really stuck on so i used my fingernail to pick it off and that sucker shot right up under the nail.

My latest one is;

I tried stripping paint from a lexan shell last night and didn't notice it melt through my glove and under my finger nail. Now my thumb is throbbing and swollen and the thumb nail feels loose and wants to come off...it stripped the paint though, so swings and roundabouts!

I have plenty of other horror stories, like getting stabbed in the leg with a ski pole, having my head crushed underneath a tractor's balance block, breaking my ankle bmx'ing, etc... I am accident prone.

PBR, I have cringed the most on this one so far. Ouch!

I was netting for shrimp one day with a 10 footer (first time on that net) and I caught my left thumb knuckle with a sinker. It hurt like a dickens and left a hole in the flesh. 6 weeks later I still have a hole in my thumb. Me and the wife went to my place back in WV for a week and I was sitting on the front porch with a tooth pick. Just out of curiosity (why does that always end badly ) I started to stick the tooth pick into the hole. It went well over half way into my thumb and the hole was about twice the diameter of the tooth pick. It was time to see what was going on. I took some finger nail clippers and started opening up the hole. It only took on little snip. Out pops this big freaking something from my thumb. It was the sharp V shaped barb of a shrimps tail. Probably little over an inch long. That was freaky.

Now that is going to be a scar to be proud of. Man alive that was bad. And to think, I was whining all last week because of the pump knot and bloody knuckles my MX450 left me. Wow, I am such a baby
