"Built in 1989" never used JRx2

Post by RCveteran »

The listing on the bay said built in 1989 never used. The pics were not so great and I could see the original rear tires were gone, but from 3 blurry pics and a couple emails back and forth I acquired the beast.

It has indeed never been run, whoever built it was very careful as there are no scratches or flaws. Oil leaked out of shocks of course but other than that its all there an new. As close as I can get to a NIB kit.

It is an early run, no hole rear shock tower, thin spring collars, aluminum outer rings off transmission and the non engraved motor plate 2 hole lower trailing links. At any rate, here's some pics and some stuff in the box.

Thanks. I have been looking for something of this quality for a long time. I will clean up a few pieces of rusted hardware but intend to do nothing to it. I don't even want to pop ball ends off or anything as I am amazed at how there are no scrathes or gouges in anything like there are when I build a car

Doug is going to be painting me a boxart replica body which will be slated for it.

Forgot this pic, did the X2 come with extra pinion gears? This bag was in the box too. They are extremely light like they aluminum.

Beautiful car. I'm jealous.

Those look like Hyperdrive belt-drive pinions to me. Quiet, but for the effort you needed to go through to use them (all new pinions, spurs, reverse-rotation motor, etc), and the extra rotating mass the belt offered, most people eventually figured out that it wasn't worth it.

I am counting on that body you will be doing to bring this one home.

I may put my previous shelfer up for sale, it was one I built out of a pretty nice chassis and lot of new parts and my best quality used parts. Not sure if I can part with it though. This guy right here.

Took the shocks off to drain what appeared to be original clear oil, what had not leaked out at least, cleaned up a few things and took some better steady pics for the record.
