new YZ10 project
new YZ10 project
was going through all the parts I collected building my old 870C and decided to stay with the Mag bulkheads on that one. So I put together the black parts to build the ones pictured below. I was going to go all black with my original car but am now thinking I want to find a works/Cool CF chassis for the black parts and build another car. Question is what other chassis will use the YR4 bulkheads other than the 870C and works 91&93 or is that all my ortions. Would like to see some pics of chassis that are out there or get a template to cut one out of CF stock, Would like to cut the parts out of CF with blue strands going through it. Also looking at shock tower options I have the Associated white rear tower and will either try to find a mate for the front or cut some myself out of CF also.
I had posted a question on hinge pins in another thread and after looking at specs for different pins I ended up with Ofna P/N 36170 rear arm pins that were long enough to add a turnbuckle to the front and rear of the inner hinge pins.
I also have a new Mag motor mount with the black cap to match the rest of the parts... Figure I will go black and blue.

Re: new YZ10 project
The arms I recieved have a hole in the front edge for the sway bar ball stud...Thanks for the info. They are also much longer than the 870C arms. I had never seen a set other than in pictures...LOL

Re: new YZ10 project
They were sold as a complete set! ZC-407A for the 91 and these ZC-407C for the 93.

Re: new YZ10 project
They are longer indeed , so you can not use the same carriers as on the 870. Even the universals have different lengths, and the top links are different oo, and the offset on the wheelhubs aswell.Justjoe wrote:The arms I recieved have a hole in the front edge for the sway bar ball stud...Thanks for the info. Re: new YZ10 project
This project has been on the back burner for quite some time since I couldn't figure out what I wanted to do. I picked up two YR4M2 Pro cars and started to do the Hot Dog thing as someone had suggested but ran into belt issues...finally got a short enough belt to make the saddle pack motor mount work...then it has sat. I dont like this chassis and was wondering what chassis was originally used for the hot dog?
Below are some of the pics of the car halfway completed.
Any thoughts?

Re: new YZ10 project
the original hot dog chassis is the same as on the original YR4. But the original chassis will not work with your moter mount. Aside from wrong hole locations your moter mount uses a different length front and rear belt.
The roiginal YR4 chassis and top deck are black epoxy ( glassfibre instead of carbon=graphite fiber)
Yours looks fine to me but you need some topdeck construction; bit tricky with the lower rear bulkhead cover and higher than standard motermount, but do-able with some creativity
