RPS SE
Thought some of you Yok fans might appreciate this old Dog. It was originally owned by Daryl Lane and was his personal race buggy during the time that he was founding A&L. Daryl was nice enough to give me some info and history on the buggy when I asked him about it. It was also shown on the cover of R/C News in 1987. Here is what Daryl wrote about the buggy,
"I sold the Yok on e-bay a few years ago, it was the second R/C car I had. I raced it for years before starting A&L and an year after. The body that is on it is the one I was the last time I raced it, which was at the CRP Challenge held at the Ranch Pit Stop - it actually ended up on the cover of the issue of Competition Plus magazine coming off the jump going into the turn leading to the front straight. My partner Chris Allec was running our first prototype R/C 10 Trailing arm car at that race in the 2w mod class."
It sits just as it did when I got it, except for the addition of the Losi motor and a good cleaning.

Re: RPS SE
Is that purple car on the cover an Optima?
P.S. Love the Centerline-style rims.

Re: RPS SE
Thanks Guys,
This buggy has been one of my favorites since I picked it up a few years ago. It's great to own a little piece of RC history and it's cool that the buggy is still in one piece after all these years.

Re: RPS SE
That's a real nice buggy. I've always wanted one of these. I remember staring at the SE in a glass case at the Ranch Pit Stop and drooling. It was painted yellow and it had a scoop cut out to cool the esc. Remember doing that back in the day? LOL!

Re: RPS SE
Really cool to own something that has such pedigree & a link to the core roots of our sport/hobby - looks to be in amazing condition considering how long its been around, & for the fact that it was evidently raced regularly!
I must admit i'm not a huge fan of this model of Yokomo - although I can recognise how special this particular car is. I came into the hobby too late to see these doing battle on the track - and compared to the 4wd cars that superceeded it (CAT/Optima etc) They just look cumbersome & dare I say a bit toyish.... sorry

Re: RPS SE
Guess it's been awhile since I have checked the Yok forum. The motor is a Losi Revolution. The tires are Dynamite and the wheels from my best guess are Losi.tamiya_d1_junky wrote:what motor was in the car doug? and what brand tires/wheels are they??
Re: RPS SE
Wow, that is so amazing!! I'm loving the paint job too - so simple but looks clean and gnarly. Great ride!!!!
