mx4's are great! awesome job and awesome to see the original shocks on the mx4, they are quite rare, dont think they were hard anodized and were either replaced quickly or dumped.. looks great. i have a mx4 prototype never had time to rebuild yet.. gonna inspire me

Re: Mx 4 Party
Thanks fellas. I'm a big fan of the MX 4 they seem to be one on the rarest of the older production Yokomos, along with the works 93.
I'm thinking of using the restored MX 4 to make a custom mid motor MX 4 using the parts from a MR4 BX (which I have lying around). I need to go and take some measurements to see if it can be done.

Re: Mx 4 Party
I think I've seen about 5 or 6 on eBay and I bought two of them. The restore only took about 2 weeks as I had most of the parts I needed. The hardest parts to find were the battery posts I used http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270765621331?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649 instead. The car came with two original posts which I cut down to make to a complete set.GJW wrote:hard to find alright, very nice car's how long did it take to restore the mx4?

sweet party. loving the bc's. that's the great thing about yokomo cars, you could interchange parts from one to another.

Re: Mx 4 Party
That Silver Yokomo looks like one I built for photos at the Cactus Classic which a Japanese magazine took lots of photos for.. I had several Mx-4's but I never felt they handled as good as the YZ-10 Wolrds edition on high bite surfaces. The MR4-BC SP with the long wheelbase kit and the upgraded slipper that used AE spurgears fron the B4 and 10 degree caster blocks was an Awesome car too. Those upgraded slippers are HARD to find..I got mine when i used to run for Yokomo, never seen another one since....I have looked high and low for them. I think who ever has Yokomo USA's old inventory has LOTS of MX-4 parts. Ultimate Hobbies had tons of parts. I still have tons from my early Yokomo days.
I presently have several old Yokomos including Brian Kinwalds TQ car from the '95 Worlds in Japan..... Brian has agreed to paint an "Era" correct body for it too.

Re: Mx 4 Party
yeah that bc/s "drescher" slipper clutch is a great setup. for spurs you could drill out a b4/t4 spur to the right size and you're set.
scott, when were you driving for yokomo?

I ran for Yokomo from late 1999 - to 2004. I think I still have the Gold CVD's for the Mx4's. I will have to look.
