Hot Trick Red Ultima - My lady in red
Hi guys!
I should probably introduce myself properly since I've only been a member for a short while.
My name is Fredrik. I live in Sweden with my wife and daughter.
I got my first real car in a Ultima 2 (2nd gen/yellow) for christmas when I was twelve. I built it in two days, and drove it outdoors same day as I completed building it. A friend from school told me that they were racing indoors (carpet) with buggies sundays and so I went there and truly got bitten by the racing. I hopped the fairly poor Ultima 2 up with all available option parts from Kyosho and after a few months I actually did beat the "track master". One time anyway!
Time went by and chicks became hotter than the RC deal.
Thanks to my wife I went to my parents house a few years ago and grabbed my old Ultima who was in terrible shape and fixed it up. Now I'm all in again!
I've always liked the Hot Trick parts, and the Ultima is naturally one of my favourites so I started collecting parts and pieces. Thanks to Prince Steve i got a whole bunch of parts.
Well, I let the pictures talk for themselves.
Front A-arms:
Rear A-arms:
Front end and chassis:
Steering linkage, not the red one, but Hot anyway.
Front Bulkhead attached (will be replaced with a NIB one I picked up today)
Rear part whatever it's called attached as well:
Upper deck / chassis mounted:
With front A-arms just to see how it looks, and it looks great doesn't it?
And rear A-arms:
Will switch some parts today and mount the rear shock mount.
I'm waiting for the front one to arrive.. Shouldn't be too long I hope.
I truly want the trailing arm kit too, but I haven't found one yet.
Not shure which tranny I will use. Any ideas guys?
I think I will go with the UM-34 body with a killer paint scheme. Pearl white and red in some combination.
I'll post as soon as i get going again!

Re: Hot Trick Red Ultima - The car in my dreams
Thanks!
I tried the UM-34 body, but it isn't as wide in the front as I hoped.

What's your idea about the body for your Hot Trick Ultima ? And what i was wondering since i have seen this red parts the first time , is the weigth of the car. Is a complete Hot Trick car much heavier than an Ultima Pro or a chassis with a Kelron plate ?

I love the Ultima builds.
May I make a suggestion?
When you replace the front bulkhead, be sure to turn it around.
(The one in your photos is on backwards)
Keep us posted, the more photos the better!

Not sure what body to use yet. I tried the Ultima Pro body, but it isn't as wide as I thought. I've seen very few conversions, so every idea is appreciated.michi wrote:What's your idea about the body for your Hot Trick Ultima ? The weight is the same as the Ultima 2 gen 2, which uses kelron.
I got the exact same comment about the front bulkhead in a swedish forum as well!Diggley wrote:I love the Ultima builds.

I noticed that when I was mounting the shock mount. It's corrected.
I'll give you more pics tomorrow!

Some updates with photos.
Got some front shock towers and a set of Tecnacraft tie rods a few days ago.
Some minor adjustments to steering and new steering rod:
Shock tower in place:
Rear tower in place:
Rear tie rods:
Screws for shocks:
Shocks mounted:
Some interesting things came up yesterday, so I'll go in another theme on the shocks.
What do you think so far?
