quick question.... what is the difference between the 6 hole and 3 hole spur/counter gear version 1 and version 2??? have been trying to find out but cant seem to locate any info..

The um1 gear set for ultima and ot27 sprocket set for optima both include the same counter gear, or at least compatible gears. I have never noticed a difference in the hole count, may have been a running change

I'm sorting all the bits out for the build of an Optima, Turbo Ultima and Ultima Pro XL and I have two different types of centre gears, a smaller one with three holes and a larger with six holes.
Which one fits which buggy?

Thanks Dennis, just took a look now and see what you mean about the metal inner part.
I only had one of each so now time to look for a regular one to complete my Optima

Hi all,
I'm looking for a centre gear for my Optima. I have a UM-1 package of gears which I think was left over from an Ultima. Looking at pics of the OT-27 gear set for the Optima, the centre gear in both sets look very similar. Are they the same?...

A couple limiter gears, OT-74's ,just popped up on eBay so I purchased one. Looks to be the one with the thicker spring which, from what I've read, is the better of the two. A little pricey but I figure it will be well worth it in the long run.

I'm in the process of building my NIB Losi Jr.2 and I was wondering if anyone knows (I'm sure someone does!) why the LRM centre diff gear has the rather random looking square holes for the diff balls? It's puzzled me for a long time - I used to have...

A while ago I won these 48 pitch gear sets made by trinity for the ultima & optima. I'm thinking of using one in my ultima runner but am having difficulties figuring out the gear ratio. Surely a gear ratio table existed but it didn't come with...

A larger spur allows you to use smaller pinions and still reach the spur. Doing so will bring the final ration for both closer agian, so that makes sense.
My guess: the overdrive kit was intended for stock moters.

I have the overdrive set:
white nylon countergear, metal color back gear and black color front gear.

I also have the standard front gear (blue). The blue gear was sold separtely, so the there must be a way to mount it on the backgear....

I checked mine today, the counter gear is not the same as yours ED, it is press fitted and not held with a cross pin. As far as I could see it isn't bent.

shodog -my original spur is 44 tooth, but I might want a different size so I could play with...

Yes it does..directly. not so for the optima mid.
However you must re use your old 3mm middle bevel pin to hold in the 2 small bevel gears.

OK, thanks, Ill order some up. The new optima has a bunch of good parts for old cars. Almost worth buying a whole kit and parting it out.
