Mr. ED's ultima proj. 44B

Post by Mr. ED »

After narrowing the track, and fitting the old-skool tires and wheels, it still took a lot of shortening to get this body to fit.
With 210mm wheelbase it is as long as an M-chassis Mini 8)

Thanks guys,
I had good fun building this one.

Mike, I believe those belcranks are aftermarkets for the early TF kyosho touring cars; maybe tobee craft or cross?

I don't expect the short wheelbase and narrow thread will do as well as the racer I made earlier:

But in japan some events are of a different nature, and that's what I had in mind for this build.
What could be better than this to run along side grashoppers hornets and frogs for a kyosho fan

Awesome car you have there mate. Is that an original 44B body? It's pretty rare in that condition no?

Also I think you said somewhere that those are Hornet/Grasshopper wheels, right? Are they stock? Because they look to have changed the design...

the wheels are stock, but they are mounted with their inside pointing out, and I replaced the standard screws with bolts and nuts.
(the reason for mounting inside out: that was the only way I found to make the rear ones work with the other material I had)

The body is pretty rare but no one seemed to want it when i posted it in the BST. Spoke Darryn about it a couple times, but it didn't move on so...

I actually used this body many years back with clodbuster wheels on a shortened optima mid. that's why the wheel wells are so big

I guessed to myself that that's what you coould have done to the wheels, but also thought Tamiya could have changed the design without me knowing. It looks very cool anyway. I want to put tiny hex heads on some old Tamiya wheels I have.

That looks great mate - sorry I forgot about that body now!!

I hate the PM system - I always seem to either not receive them - or forget.

I might make a 4wd mini out of my unbuilt 44B kit (that is missing a body!).....hmmm - wonder if a Wild Willy or Willy's wheeler body will fit!!

Anyways - no hi-jacking - looks great mate. Those wheel arches dont look to bad after all !

Cheers

Darryn

I think mine will look good enough with a parma copy of the midnight pumpkin ;)
So if you really want this body for the original 44B, check your PM's in aminute or 2.

Hey Tak,
you're a much better driver than me, so ofcourse you can drive it.

It will hop and bop like a grasshoper though, so don't excpect me to put a hot motor in soon

EDIT: Ultiman, nah rather not, I like my yz-10 very much also.
Did you see it yet?

No, that was a '94. This one is basically a mix and match of (spare) parts and the new YR-4 kit that I tried selling on ebay earlier.

I'm starting to enjoy painting bodies, so I need something much cheaper than vintage bodies
