Here's one of my latest purchase. They came in separate auctions from the same seller who poorly listed them and got the lot for very few bucks. I mainly bought them for the electronics: NER-2S receiver, NES-1A servo and a almost brand new Reedy motor, all in perfect working order. I'll probably make one good car with all the best parts and see if I want to keep it or not. The thing is though this car is really neat in its conception, I'm more an off-road racer/collector... The plastic parts look to have been dyed/painted and it seems they were originally white. If anyone could tell me more about this car/racing class, maybe I would learn to appreciate it a bit more...

I love those..... I have a never run one as well. I wanted one only because I could remember them hauling butt around the track I used to race offroad in Orlando, International Distributors. I am sure Doug can tell you more about them, but they were the car to have back in the glory days of oval racing.

First, it's a 1/1oth scale car, not 1/8th. It was the ORIGINAL 4wd car made for dirt oval racing, and really the very first car designed just for dirt oval racing and not a converted buggy. In the history of R/C racing and dirt oval racing, this car is an icon.

That car is a VERY early version, with the wide chassis, and no holes in the top deck. The original early Yok wheels are from the first era of that car, so that is definitely one of the first run of cars. Later cars had different graphite, and used a chassis that is half of that width using no battery slots on the right side. Those arms and nylon bulkheads were all white originally, and some of those look to be painted, which is a bit ghetto. The gold Delta shocks are also a good indication of the age and era of the car. After a few years for CW, they went to their own silver shock design which was virtually identical to those (and TRC shocks).

Judging by the era of electronics in the car, I'd say this was raced around 1987 or so.

Thanks for the tips and comments Doug. I may try to take that paint off if ever I have time to restore it. Is this car pretty sought after then? I noticed I have some gold anodized wheels adaptors and steering components in the bag, as opposed to the silver ones on the complete car, are the gold things older?

those cars were awesome to watch go around a track back in the day. i never had one, but always wanted one.

BTW, that second car is good enough to take the suspension off and throw the rest in the trash. That chassis is split, and hodge-podged back together. Pull it apart and throw 'er out.

Doesn't look like you need any parts, but I bought one from a guy who drilled a thousand holes in nearly every part to lighten things up. I cut the chassis for raw materials back in my scratch-building days, but still have most of the components... that I have NO use for.

Gotta wonder why the second car has the back end re-attached.

My only guess about the cutted chassis is that it was done to have more rear flex :?: :?

Nah, I don't think that was done on purpose. A double deck chassis has no flex anyway. That was broken and then "repaired" instead of being replaced. :?

There is no mark of breakage and it looks like the chassis was cut on purpose, but what do I know?

Maybe a composition of 2 broken chassis?

A perfect companion for that rc10 sprintcar you got earlier.

Those parts look like their painted not dyed? soak them in some Castrol Super Clean they should clean up like new.

yeah, that's the plan, but we don't have that product here in Europe or maybe it's called differently...

thats a shame its good stuff but it eats the top layer of skin off unless you were gloves
