Was looking through an RCCA scan just now and noticed this tucked down in the corner of one of it's pages:
Figured this thread would be a good place to ask about it....a prototype A&L buggy definitely qualifies as an "Other Makes/Model" and I really want to know what it was.
Is there any info on this car somewhere on the internet? I've seen Daryl Lane posting on RC10Talk so if he hasn't done so already maybe he could share some more info on it....and of course better pics.
thanks for the link, you're pointing the the well-know Traxxas Cat, that's what I said in my first post, "it looks cat-esque"....
I was really looking for the real brand of that execution. The wing says "jet monster" I believe as opposed to "jet hopper". Probably some toy-manufacturer execution indeed. If anyone knows which one that'd be great... cheers!
cheers

this car was brought up to daryl a few years ago. if i remember correctly, the car is still floating around in the rafters of his garage. i don't think he ever got it down to take any pics.

Did that Porsche shell in the background come with the car? If so I believe this is an Ultima based rally car that Kyosho made (fitted with truck tires). I have a new built one that I aquired minus the shell unfortunately. The shocks on yours appear to have been upgraded from the composite stock models as well. They did a write up on it in an issue of RCCA that I'm not remembering at the moment. I do remember that the one in the issue didn't have the aluminum chassis though.

Too bad but I guess I can understand...looking around in other peoples garage rafters for a prototype RC is like a treasure hunt but looking around in your own is just a chore.
On another matter, does anyone have more info on this chassis:
I know the sticker says Houge but it looks different than the typically shovel-shaped Houge chassis I'm familiar with.

This top deck and chassis are a good half inch longer than the brown anodised chassis with 6 slots from the ultima pro (european edition) and turbo ultima and standard ultima. I believe the kelron ones are the same length also.
The topfeck isn't FRP by the way: it's black anodised aluminium... I got one ebay thinking it was FRP and was a little disappointed since it's too long to use with the trinity JG and composite craft chassis, and harder to modify than frp one.

I've never owned an XL. The duratrax (I think was duratrax not composite craft) chassis had something 'long' in its name but is only like 1/4" longer and because it has has a bigger kickup the wheelbase is just about 1/8" longer only. The bigger kickup also makes it won't work with a topdeck anyway

Does the chassis length match the Ultima Pro XL?
The Ultima pro XL´s WB is 275mm
The Ultima II´WB is 280mm
The Ultima (1. gen)´s WB is 260mm
The Triumph´s WB is 275mm
The Ultima Pro Xl´chassis is the same length as The Ultima II chassis
The 1. gen Ultima chassis is app. 12mm shorter than the above.
