RC10 mid build

Post by knucklebuster »

Got started on the glass mid motor. I basically swapped parts out on the recently acquired and rebuilt graphite runner. I doubt I could convince anyone that I did not see Stormer's mid before building this one. When I saw his mid I almost fell down. Actually, I was seated so I immediately stood up. That was probably due to a mixture of surprise and fiberglass settling in the nether region.

Aluminum tube will serve to stiffen the chassis at some point. I also need standoffs on the rear bulkhead as the link gets caught up in the spring.

Take off the 4-40 nuts behind the white top bushing and clearence the tower to clear the shock body with a curve or cut of your own design then be ok.DON

PS Who made those rear tires?

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually cut a piece of flat aluminum for a lowered rear mount on the $35 rc10 exactly as you described. I may attach the aluminum tube to this mount and therefore left it a little larger.

I rough cut all of the glass on a table saw. The shock body clears the tower, albeit very close but without any binding. The rear turnbuckle (link) catches on the spring.

Sorry, not sure who made the tires.

That is super cool!!! Make sure you use STIFF springs on that baby's front end as the wheel rates will be crazy low with that kind of laydown setup, exacerbated by the f/r mass repartition.

I love it though - looks a bit like the tuned serpent tenforce I sold a few months back!

They remind me of the old Imex Olympic tires but the outer edge tread pattern was different.

Thanks Paul! The front end will need much attention... so much bump steer I considered reversing the steering servo throw
