-Late Graphite Team Car twins-

Post by Asso_man! »

Hi guys, me again...
Well, I bought a new ride from a friend of mine, an awesome late Graphite Team Car car which is extremely hard to find. He bought it as a kit 2 month before the B2 went out, according to him it was packaged in a standard graphite Team Car box... Funny story: he bought it, then sold it to a friend that also sold it to a friend, then, years later, he bought it back (in a really bad shape) and totally rebuild it. Now it's mine 8) It's in excellent shape, got some early MIP ball-raced steering, MIP shiny CVD's, World's front and rear shock towers and an incredible "Brian Kinwald" Reedy motor that is like new and which he received from a Team driver back then... The one with white parts is another one I still have to be restored. More pics to come, so stay tuned guys

Some details about the motor:

In 1993 "Dirtynator" (Brian Kinwald) wins the World's championship with the RC10 and Reedy motor... 4 months later he signs up with Trinity... in the meantime, Reedy sells some Reedy Kinwald Edition motors. Trinity then sues Reedy which is obliged to take all their motors out of sale... a nice piece of RC history...

With the rarity of that setup with the Reedy BK Motor, you should have a body painted in Kinwald's style for that era. I remember seeing his trademark splash scheme in Associated's sales literature during that era.

You really should build an entire BK Worlds replica around that motor... 8) Unbelieveable score! [/i]

That is a pretty good idea... does anyone has pics form the Brian's RC10 inside and outside? Any contribution would be greatly appreciated...

Asso, I would love to buy one off of you. I've asked mrlexan to sell me his nip one but he'd like to keep it. Please let me know what you're looking to get for it.

Thanks a lot,
Joey

I am not totally certain, but I believe the kit AE used on their marketing stuff, including the box, is the car you are looking for.
I just did a quick and dirty scan of my Worlds Car box. The box was too big, so I got just the important part. Here you go...

It is not folklore that there was a version of the Worlds Car that shipped with a graphite chassis?
I have never heard of such a thing. It sure looks NICE.

I really thinks it's a true story, we should email AE to confirm maybe?

Well guys, bringing back another ooooold thread since I took time lately to restore the the second car on the first pic of this thread (the one with white parts and ugly blue screws, lol). Yes Doug, this is "just" another graphite chassis too  I recently came accross the following pic which pretty much solve the big mystery:

Image

Now we all know that these chassies came as a classic Team Car and not in a World's box. So it is originally a Graphite Team car with a special chassis... That's for the story.

Nevertheless, I kept the "World's" scheme (less yellow rims) on mine and kinda revamp it with a bunch of new parts. I added a new gold rear motor guard (I still can't figure how I found one NIP), fitted a totally rebuilt Stealth with 64 pitch conversion and a set of new teflon shocks. I also mounted a Composite Craft battery holder (thank you Jim). It also got Tecnacraft turnbuckles, MIP BB steering, Team Checkpoint motor, rear IMEX rims with Losi X-pattern tires and front Pro-line rims with Schumacher used tires. The body is a Hot Bodies Stealth Fighter and wing is Jammin' Jay with Losi wing buttons. Now pics...
