Hot Trick RC10 Buggy

Post by railey72 »

Here is the start of my next project. This started out as a set of suspension arms from a new built RBS sprint that I got about 2 years ago. Not being a big fan of the Hot Trick suspension I took all the arms off and was planning on selling them. Soon after I had a chance to buy a nip chassis and it kind of snowballed from there. I still think the ht suspension is cheesy but the rest of the HT rc10 stuff is kind of cool.

Parts list so far:
NIP Hot Trick Chassis
New Hot Trick suspension arms, shock collars, speed control tray and steering bell cranks
NIP Hot Trick titanium wing
New HT shock towers
Team Pit Stop Transmission

Doug, it's a beauty but...... you're killin' me here Smalls! I have a very similar project in the works right now and am waiting on some of the parts to come back from anodizing. I do still have to track down white parts (hadn't decided on nip or just nice condition to start and do some peroxide whitening) and the wide front end shock tower.

Well, at least my idea for the trans in mine is different than the route you went.

But enough of my whining, I really am impressed by this build especially the titanium wing which is very cool. When are we going to get together and put all our shelfer projects together for a "toy" photo shoot?

I'm glad to see someone executing this. Just the other day while browsing around eBay I was looking at all the RC10 Hot Trick parts and thinking that someone needed to attempt a build using all that was available for it.

I found some time yesterday to finish this up and will try to get pics up later today.

Reggie and Eddie, Thanks for the sweet parts :D :D

The shocks are stripped RC10 shocks. The plan was to get a red/silver theme. Surprisingly happy with the end result. This project was almost abandoned about 5 times but I'm glad I stuck with it.

Looks pretty cool, I didn't recall they made that many RC10 parts. I remember I had a Hot Trick Tamiya Blackfoot that about all left of the original truck was the rear end and tranny.

Wow, this is a sharp looking buggy. I too have never cared for the Hot Trick stuff but this really looks amazing. Can't wait to see it completed.

Here are some updated pics of what was completed over the weekend. Pretty happy with the way it turned out and honestly like it more than I thought I would. Still have to do some more polishing to the rear shocks and litesink. Also have some red tekin electronics to add and a few other tweaks. Still needs a trans brace (might try to do something custom, anybody have any scrap hot trick red fiberglass? :D ) Motor will probably be a twister to stay with the red theme. Not sure yet on the body but might go with a parma eagle.

Looks tasty, very nice combo! I had never seen the chassis stiffeners in plain aluminium, did you remove the ano from them?

Looks awesome. I really like the red and silver theme.

I have that same chassis NIP and it came with bare aluminum stiffeners and the holes drilled along the sides. I believe it's the companion chassis to HT's race-lite / ultra light parts.

The side braces were silver from the factory. At first I thought it was a little strange as I thought all HT parts were red but after seeing more of the race lite stuff it makes more sense. At first I was a little bummed they weren't red but after getting it built I think I prefer them in silver.
