59burst's A&L trailing conversion

Post by 59burst »

got a pair of A&L trailing arms on RCTech a month ago. then got almost complete conversion kit from a01butal weeks ago. I'm building runners so I didn't need to whiten or shine the parts. actually did but not that hard

I noticed the heights of the posts are different. the arm on the left is for A&L chassis, and right one is for conversion as you can see

and here goes the chassis for this project

arms and a new file

Is that the same chassis I sent you? Did you cut down the sides? It looks pretty sweet good work there.

I started this project right after I got a new front tower from Jay dub last week. the chassis I got was already cut. but the job was rough. and I trimmed it for a week

got an A&L tower from askbob. but I got 1.18 shocks and the original tower with a few new mounting holes in my mind. the original is short for this setup, and A&L's is rather high to me

BTW, I love this front tower. thanks Jay Dub

cleaned the mounts up, and drilled new holes on the original tower. I'll make my own tower for 1.18 shocks later. but this mod looks not that bad

everything is pretty much finished except for the tranny now.

turbo mirage fits well and, it's the reason I didn't use A&L tower. even still can use original wing mounts. I put older longer tubes with later CE bulkhead

still have to replace front .71 shafts with .80 shafts, put spacers in the rear shocks, replace the tires, try different bodies, and maybe more. and waiting for a motor plate to finish this project

Hey that's a cool idea on redrilling the stock rear tower. I have been interested in a trailing arm conversion, but have not picked one up yet. Using the stock tower was something I wanted to try - nice to see that it works beforehand! Just a thought though, if the taller A&L tower for the trailing kit uses the stock rear length (1.32body/1.02shaft) shocks....couldn't you use the 1.18 shocks with the stock RC10 tower and the trailing arms? I don't think you would need a further shorter tower. Does that make sense?
