Rc10B3 basher

Post by Jimbo302 »

I won an ebay auction and picked up a B3 for $80 after shipping. I want to have a little fun with it. I would like to do lipo and brushless along with some bumpers and anything else it needs, and just beat on it and see how it does.
I heard thunder tiger stills has replacement parts available for repairs, so that's reassuring.
Are there any tips or important pros or cons on this car that I should know?

Also do B4 parts work, I'm not familiar with the differences?

B4 shocks and top shaft / slipper assembly will work.
The slipper my be needed depending on how powerful motor you use.

Thunder tiger front arm hinge pins are a good upgrade if your not running any sort of front bumper.
No more loosing E-clips and front arms falling off.

B3's are great 8)

Thank you, good tips.

What about this setup?
Hobbywing Combo EZRUN-60A-SL Brushless ESC + 9T/3650 4300KV Motor 1/10

I assume it's a 380 motor. The ESC could accept a better sensored motor later, I believe.

I use that exact same combo in my b5m.

Granted its probably not front running equipment,
But its great value for money and fast enough to keep you entertained for a while.

That esc works like a champ in my car, I have a 3800kv motor.

So it isn't jerky being sensorless?

The little 380 makes enough torque?

It's only a bit jerky right off idle, at speeds next to zero. The rest is perfectly fine. There's a BIG misconception about sensored and sensorless systems. Years back, yeh, it probably was a difference, but not now. At any speeds on the track, the sensorless system works perfect. If you drove a crawler truck, then yeh, you'd have to so sensored for sure.

If it's made for 1/10 I doubt it's a 380, I think that was just an assumption on someones part.

If you can find them affordably try for some RPM front arms and rear arm mounts. They aren't so affordable anymore unless you find someone who has an abundance of them but they are the only thing I really ever broke.

These are a blast and I still prefer my b3 over b4 for durability and just overall fun.

I did see some on eBay for $30 plus shipping. I think I think I would rather just get the replacements.

This is a decent stealth transmission in this one , I believe? Does it need any upgrades?

Yep its a stealth.
Maybe a freshen up if its full of dirt / bad bearings etc.
They are tough units as standard equipment.

The b4 top shaft can be added while its apart.
You will also also need the slipper assembly too.
Google that one, theres a few write ups about what exactly needed.

In mine ive a b4 layshaft and vts slipper, makes the car more driveable due to the extra torque the brushless motor uses, ok i do run lrp x20 motors but the slipper does make a massive difference, a lap more than the b4 slipper.

Also i found buying the alloy front bulkhead added a bit of weight to the front plus a full size servo as well but i race on high grip whereas if on clay or dust tracks would presume someone who raced a b4 could point you in the right direction for weight placement.

Awesome, sounds like you have yours dialed in.
This one will probably never race, would an upgraded slipper be worth it?
