RC10T WOIN Runner Build

Post by janaya »

Hello everyone I'm a newbie here and just wanted to post some pictures of my RC10T I just picked up off eBay earlier in the week. Im not to sure what version this is, but I'm sure its a sport version as it has bushings through out. I also picked up set of RPM arms as well as a set of black composite arms. I was also lucky to find a new set of MIP CVD's with 3/16 axles. looking to make it a runner so if you all have any advice on changes to make by all means let me know.

Nice score!

I was actually watching that one, but it went higher than I was willing to pay, considering I'm only after select white parts that are interchangeable with a GT for use in my next build.

Thanks. I got it for under $100 shipped and the stealth trans is in better shape then my SC10 2WD after a week of racing. It doesn't look like it was run much, but I might just go modern runner with it, so many parts will get changed out.

I got it for under $100 shipped
Which is a great deal for a guy who wanted a 10T. I'm just after white plastics that fit the GT, so a 10T roller is worth about $50 tops to me.

As for making yours a runner, unless your budget is really constrained, you'll be happy with a $100-$150 brushless combo in the 3,300-3,800 KV range and a 2S or 3S 30c LiPo.

I'm pretty happy with the Atomik Venom 3,300 on my buggy, but it has jumped $60 since I bought in the spring. You can still get a Castle Sidewinder for just over $100; a friend of mine runs that on his 10T, and it works well:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Castle-Creations-Sidewinder-SC-SCT-Brushless-Combo-3800kV-CSEC0090-/390566967388?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5aef9af85c

For a servo, I'm pretty sold on the Savox units. $37 will get you a 145 in-oz metal gear servo on Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Savox-SC-0252MG-Metal-Standard-Digital/dp/B004WC0PGG/ref=sr_sp-atf_title_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378623914&sr=8-1&keywords=SC0252

As for radio gear, it's pretty hard to beat the deals on take-off Associated XP3 or Axial AX3 combos on ebay at $35-$45 shipped:

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=XP3&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR11.TRC1.A0.XXP3SSi&_nkw=XP3SSi&_sacat=0

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Axial-2ch-2-4Ghz-Radio-System-AX-3-Transmitter-AR-3-Receiver-AXIAX24206-/161065249013?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item25803ca8f5

I like the XP3 better, but the Axial is compatible with $8 Hobbyking/Flysky receivers, which makes multiple cars on one transmitter very economical. I currently have 9 cars bound to one AX3 transmitter. No model memory, but I don't find it that bothersome.

Very true Sixtysixdeuce, if I was looking for the parts I would have paid less.

I made a decision on electronics for it. My local indoor off-road/on-road track closed down about 2 weeks ago so I'm stripping out my rebuilt TC5. Its only a month old so for a servo I'lll be running a savor 1251, speed control = Novak GTB2, motor = Reedy Sonic 2 17.5 and so I don't have to modify the bulkhead or chassis too much SMC shorty pack. What do you all think?

Also got the GTB 2 and receiver mounted. Also decided to go all black plastic so I will be dying another set of plastics I got. Still waiting for my carbon fiber shock towers to arrive and trying to figure out how to mount my low profile servo.
