crossbred touring machine

Post by Mr. ED »

I mixed a lot of parts together here:
TF-2 transmission, academy STR-4 carriers, mini inferno arms, Yok' shocks a barracuda chassis (I think), some unidentified hop-up parts and home brewn stuff.

Special about this thing:
standup low profile servo,
extra stiff upper deck: graphite tubes, but allowing some torsion for more grip
optimised steering movement and bump steer elimination.
the arms go all the way into the hubs for maximum travel (outdoor racing on less than perfect asphalt)
body support at the extents of the bodyfor less body interaction with the tires and better use of the bodie aero-d's.

ok, pics time:

I was even planning to take it into some competition and checked around with different shops and circuits...
But Japan is disappointing me big time when it comes to club racing, either there's no competition, or they only allow Tam's, or the track is way too far (tollroads are so expensive) and the race starts at 7 or 8 AM.
Offroad is even scarser :(

Well I went to race it last Sunday!

Actually not a real race since they gave me the wrong date; missed it by a week

But I bought an AMB and some practise time since I was there anyway.

I had put on some different tires since the ones in the pics are over 5 years old or so. Big mistake: after numerous runs up and down the drivers stand, curses and suspension modifcations galore, I swapped them back and voila...
Perfect control and soon I was driving the entire pack without a single walk down.
Definitely need some more practise to get better times, but they increased considerably over the 3 packs I drove.
I also picked up a second hander in the shop ; so I won't have to wait between practise runs
Just another excuse for buying this irresistable bargain :)
