- RC250 with a touch of RC100 and RC300, lol -

Post by Asso_man! »

I grabbed this old boy off eVilpay last night and almost fainted when I saw my snipe did its job.
It appears to be complete and original, seller said it was only run two times  Correct me if I'm wrong but this must be the oldest AE car on the forum and most probably the first RC100 appearing here. Any info would be much appreciated, especially about possible differences between early and later kits. Can't wait to get it! Here's a teaser, more pics when it gets here, enjoy!

I wouldn't dare to sum up everything I bought from US sellers, anyway these are peanuts when compared to big companies' profits... Are you spying me Al or were you following it too? Good price huh? I must say that the $-Euro exchange rate helps a lot!

I think that the car has some newer parts on it. The steering system is off of the rc300 series, as it looks much different from the pics posted by AE:
http://aedownloads.com/pdf/rc100.pdf
and here
http://www.monstertruckfever.se/rc100.html

The chassis plate also has all of the mounting holes up front for the separate suspension mounts that are found on newer cars. I just looked at my rc300 and it has the 2 holes drilled and countersunk for the single large suspension mount like on your car(I was wondering what those 2 holes are for) other than the front suspension mount being the one-piece aluminum instead of 2 separate nylon mounts, the rest of the car looks like rc250/300

Thanks Anthony, that is what I thought too but I'm no expert at all when it comes to 1/8 on-road cars. When setting the snipe I really thought it was a RC100, I'm now wondering if I really want it. Wrong description... damn it

David, it's a great car, alot more than an eBay description. Besides, there was a 2nd high bidder so you could always turn it around and send it back to another new home. In fact 9 different bidders so others wanted this car. You got a winner. jmho

It looks like it might be a "late" RC200, made after the RC300 was available. Very nice... 8)

Funny about this post:

The more I think about it, it might as well be a RC250 with a RC100 front end... strange mix-up for sure

http://www.rcmagvintage.com/reviews/retro/voitures/piste/musee/associated/associated.htm RC100 has aluminum chassis. looks like an RC250 with the 100 front end on it..........the extra holes were drilled in the glass chassis by the owner to mount the 1 piece front end as opposed to the 2 nylon arms.......Still COOL.......I was watching it also on the 'Bay, but seemed to go for too much for a 250............
