After our burn down two years ago, I saw a familiar sight yesterday. Neighbors about three houses down had their attic catch fire. I was hoping to never smell that smell again. Glad to see yours is coming along....you'll be back in no time

Once you've smelled a burning house, it is an aroma that never leaves you. 25 years in the remodel and repair industry has left more than a few scars on me. :( The important thing is that you and your loved ones were safe, including pets.

Month seven and minor progress! I know construction is booming in Calgary and labor is short but this is BS! Not sure if I will be back before Christmas? Been spending a XXXX load on my line of credit buying appliances, furniture, kitchen stuff and some RC but insurance has only paid a tiny bit for living expenses. I know I will be more in the hole when all is said and done! I have more debt now than 15 years ago! This is BS!

Still happy to see some progress! :|

Sorry you have to deal with the debt and insurance drama :( That sucks man.
Glad to see progress though! I know you'll be stoked when its all done. It will be nice to have a fresh clean space to work in.

Hey Rod, glad you're seeing some progress. Sorry that it's such a slow moving process.

If it's any consolation, I see a few nice things going on there. Your electrician appears to be doing a pretty tidy job, particularly around the panel; it's definitely not your framer's first day at the rodeo and whoever is doing your insulation and vapour barrier is being quite mindful of stopping air flow with meticulous use of acoustical sealant.

The finished product may not only look nice, but more importantly, it's going to be done right behind what the naked eye can see.

Wow! I'm not sure how I missed this. I am truly thankful you and your family and the two dogs are ok. I was reading every post and my stomach felt sick page after page. So sorry you had to go through all this!

Horrible stuff. Glad everyone was ok, and that you're finally seeing some progress on rebuilding.
This is exactly why I still haven't updated to LiPo technology...I have a 2 year old daughter and a 6 year old son, and it scares the crap outta me thinking about something like this putting them in danger...though you say it was your charger, not the batteries that started it all. I knew a charger could go bad, but not that it could go up in flames! I have a nice big heavy metal tray that my chargers are going into the next time I use them. Still, my NiMH chargers get unplugged when I'm not downstairs in my workshop right there with them...call me paranoid if you want...too many horror stories about the LiPo stuff still. There's got to be a safer way to manufacture those...
What about the LiPo cells in full-size cars? Are they as likely to incinerate in a car accident? I would think the government would regulate the hell out of that...is it just too expensive to do the same process for our batteries?

Slow progress indeed. I was also hoping you could be back into your house by the holidays. You want to be around family anyways at that time :| right

Try and stay positive dude, you have some fantastic bodies coming your way and you are making big waves with your Team Moo build!

I think that's a fine start. Slow, but when its done, you may have one of the better man caves around. Chin up, stick on the ice, the cup will follow

I hope this gets sorted out sooner rather than later Rod. I did not know you were still out of the house. Give me a call if you need anything.

I agree that the work being done looks to be correct, you can be glad about that at least.

Here is some interesting info for those that might be wondering what Rod and Marlo are saying.

Hang in there Rod! I know it seems never ending, but the final product will be well worth the wait.

Glad that you weren't hurt at least. RC stuff can always be replaced, although I know it would take a long time. I recently bought a Venom Stronghold to help ease my mind if I'm charging a battery and happen to walk away for a minute.

Scary how this stuff can happen so quickly!
