Daryl's question & answer thread on Team A&L Cars and Trucks

Post by Daryl Lane »

First of all I have forgotten way more then "I" remember so I may not have an answer for you right away.

Also I have limited time for the web currently so it may take awhile to see and answer - please be patient with this older guy...

Daryl great thread idea. I really like the A&L products and none more so than the alloy trailing arms and chassis.
At some stage I'd like to build an Optima Mid LWB can and wanted to see if you do that chassis/arm combo? Also, does the trailing arm out perform the standard Kyosho rear arm design?
Thanks- Jason

 WOW  Not even time to finish the post... LOL

Our mid kit is a longer wheel base chassis and comes with the belt. Trailing arm out preform on ruff and loss dirt tracks, not so much on blue grove really smooth tracks.

As I recall we won 100's of national titles with that set-up    Oh wait it was 3 or 4 now that I think about it, this is counting ROAR and NORRCA? JR's assoc. Mostly in 4wd stock class, Dominic Sealers won two I believe.

Great to know, thanks Daryl. When me budget permits again I will at some stage build up one of these cars. Most of our tracks over in AU can be a little loose. This is one car I'd very much like to give a go.
Thanks mate. All the best- Jason

Great looking car Chris

I want to say we ran the stock ones and then we made one for the optima mids later. I do not have any more of them - wish I did. I will try and find some pictures of it.

I'm sure it was asked elsewhere but in keeping with the thread....

Do you have any molds for any of the bodies? Assuming no- Just out of curiousity, where did they go?
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

When Chris Allec and I split the Company "A&L" Chris took the body machine and all the then A&L body tools and I took all the parts - parts. I believe Chris still has them all I ask him about them every now and then. I believe he is too busy to pull any in small quantities and does not want to sit on a number of them for a few years.

I have a quick question...

I remember seeing a Roadkill truck body on a pan car in a magazine or catalog that set a speed record. Do you have any info on the car/electrics that was used?

Does this also apply to Factory Works bodies? I happened to bump into an auction for the Renault Espace F1 body for the Tamiya M-chassis yesterday and would love to be able to buy one for a normal price.

Hi Daryl.
Is it a little too personal to ask why you guys split and went your separate ways? With the company name being what it is it seems like you two should be life long pals designing, creating and selling some of the coolest merchandise we have ever seen. (Can you tell I'm a fan of your merchandise) :)

Dave it was an Associated pan car with a few mods to it, 14 sub "c" battery's, BSR caps, Tekin speed control and a Fantom custom wind 9 motor. I have pictures some where and I still have the car. It was either the following year or two years later I can the chassis with a Volovo 850 Estate "wagon" body on it. It ended up on the end of one of that years Associated videos flipping over in turn one.
