Novak Havoc + AM Futaba Magnum Jr = Horrible Glight

Post by soniccj5 »

I went to the track today and found out my new Havoc 10.5 Brushless setup does not work with my radio gear. I couldn't even complete 1 lap it was so out of control. I drove home and installed my Novak T4 & Trinity C027 which did not cause me any problem.

Has anyone else ran into problems with a brushless speed controller with old radio equipment?

Thanks,

ED

Checked the BEC voltage and determined the Novak T4 provides 4.2 Volts when the Novak Havoc provides 5.2 Volts. The T4 does not glitch even though it is providing a lower voltage. Removed the brushless motor and the steering servo still glitched.

I would think a lower voltage BEC would cause the radio to glitch.

Thinking about investing in the glitch buster, but it is hard for me to part with $10.00 for a capacitor.

For anyone following my glitch saga.

I just got word from Novak that it could possibly be a software problem with the speed controller itself. Might need to send it back for a software upgrade.

Just tried out the receiver from the Axial SCX10 RTR which is a 27Mhz AM receiver instead of the 75Mhz from the Futaba magnum Junior. Seems like that resolved my glitch problem.

Going to mount it better this weekend and run a fully charged battery.

Installed a Tower Hobbies 224 2-Channel 2.4GHz radio last night. I was surprised at how small the receiver was when I opened the box compared to my Futaba receiver.

Took it for a rip in my driveway without any glitching problems.

I plan to still run an antenna tube for the look :)
