Are pan cars dead?

Post by Diggley »

I haven't seen ANYTHING on pan cars in a long, long time...

Anyone still run the 10L, Bolink, Hyperdrive, etc., anywhere?

If anyone needs to be inspired.... I saw this at a truck stop yesterday.

If anything, it would be a neat paint theme for a short course truck.

i have a 10L that i run in the parking lot next door to my house. i use it as a teaching aid for my 4 year old son. pretty soon i'm going to need to pick up a lot of used tires for it though. onroad racing was never big around here.

i also have a bolink outlaw sprint car that uses the invader chassis. but it just sits on the shelf looking pretty.

pan cars are a dead subject on this forum...............

oval pan car is much bigger than on-road, but with that new associated car (the R5 or something like that) i think it's gonna make a comeback.

I would love for pan cars to make a comeback. on a road course though, sorry Scr8p.
there is a new track locally, a high banked paved oval. I plan to get my 10L3 up and running. I suspect that the track will be hard on tires, but the pan cars will probably be the fastest class.
I wish there was an indoor carpet facility in the area to race 1/12 or 1/10 road cars. The 12l3 I had was one of my all time favorite cars. It was relatively easy to set up and drive. unfortunately the track closed several years ago and I sold the car.
there are quite a few nice modern pan cars out there, so they must be getting used somewhere.

I just ran a pan car on carpet for the first time last night. What a blast! The owner of the track just wanted me to run something, so he set me up with one of his 12th scales. I was a little nervous at first, but I really took to the car and ran some decent lap times.

Pan cars will be alive and well at the upcoming Vintage Onroad Nationals to be held at Thunder RC Raceway in Nashville TN. The exact date will be announced soon. Sometime around the end of January/ beginning of February
