RPM JRX-2 front bulkheads both styles updated 4/28

Post by aconsola »

Well I finally got an RPM front bulkhead, I spotted it on a truck on Ebay and made sure to win it. I got it today and found something I was not expecting.
The bulkhead has ~10 degrees of kick-up built in. This is probably good for the original jrx-2 short chassis which only had 20 degrees. I was Planning on using this on the RPM-JRX-T buildup I am doing, but don't know how it will work/look with a combined 40 degrees of caster.

Tis is probably the reason these are so scarce. once the long chassis came out on the truck and then the jrx-pro, there was no need for this bulkhead as the geometry was improved with the chassis design.

Does anyone know if there are 2 types of RPM front bulkhead?
I guess I could use this to build up a full RPM jrx-2 . . .

i took a look at the bulkhead i have and its the same as yours. when i contacted rpm they gave me only one pt.# for a losi bulkhead. but then again they also told me they had no record or pt. # for jrx2-t front a-arms

I just got ahold of 2 new RPM losi Bulkheads. The one posted above I got used on a car. I believe it is part #7330.
The ones I just got are part # 7378
I emailed RPM about it and got this reply:
"That bulkhead fit the LX-T, Pro-SE & the GT-X."
The 7378 is shaped just like the Losi OEM bulkhead. The hinge pin slots are parallel with the mounting point for the chassis, and it has holes at the top to mount the front chassis brace for the molded chassis cars.
Below are a few pics of the 2 rpm bulkheads. I did not have a Standard losi one to put in the pics as I did not want to disassemble 2 cars just for pics.
The 7378 has already been installed on my JRX-T, watch for mounted pics in the JRX-T build thread.

thoes rpm bulkheads are super strong. the plastic is thicker around the hinge pins and are virtually bulletproof. they can really take a beating, i have seen alot of stock bulkheads break but never an rpm one. back in the day we used them alot in oval racing. for oval racing we used to turn the bulkhead around and mount it backwards. this allowed the shock tower to move foward so you could lay down the shocks more and clear the bulkhead. then the lower shock mount mounted on the front of the arm.if you had the old jrx chassis with the 20 degree nose and the 10 degree bulkhead backwards it lowered the caster from 20 degrees to 10 degrees. this was the killer setup for oval back in the day.we did this because there was no other losi castor blocks available besides the stock 30 degree. when i get my pictures scanned into my computer i will post them for you mine is currently set up this way.
