Currenlty, RC10T4.1 in 17.5T Class is main one here. That is my primary tire budget as a result.

Building a 5 link JRx2 now to race in 2wd buggy for the fun of it. It will be 17.5T brushless powered as well.

Back in late 80's and early 90's I primarily raced a Topcat and had most success with a YZ-10. It was the only car then I used to make A-mains with.

That is a very cool pic arf! what year was the Bug, looks like a mid-late 60s? My dad had a 65' when we were kids back in the eighties, we loved that car :D

I suppose in terms of what I race the most it goes in this order;

1/10th Touring Car (Corally - 13.5 class)
1/10th Tamiya M chassis Mini racing
1/10th 2wd Off Road (made a return to the class this year with my Worlds RC10, next year I hope to do more off road with an Atomic Carbon Cr2)

I did have a quick go with an RC12 in the mid 90s when our local club tried pushing the formula, but that probably only lasted about six months until everyone returned back to their buggies, with me being the last 12th left being put into their heats

However I will always consider myself as an off roader as this was the class I started racing in.... & only 2wd, I've never raced a 4wd car & never really desired to :|

Incidentally, my first ever encounter with R/C car racing (was probably only about 6 or 7) was at a nearby Bird Park/Stately home called Lilford Park - they had a big tarmac track out at the back of the grounds (I think the euros may have been held there?) They raced 1/8th on-road. I can distinctly remember being fascinated with the noise &air of excitement, I wanting to look closer but I was dragged away by my parents. That track closed down when the house closed its gates to the public... but its outline is still visible on Google earth

OMG...let me see

Started racing dirt oval,
  • Monster Truck (blackfoot) before conversions were out
Modified Monster Truck (Ultima conversion & JRX2 conversion)
Open Sprint Car (Ultima RCRC kit)
    2wd Open Oval (JRX2 5 link)
2wd Nascar (gearbox, open 6 cell or stock 7 cell)
Then offroad
  • 2wd mod (JRX2 5 link)
Stock Truck (LXT, XXT, XXTCR, XXXT)
    Mod Truck (XXTCR, XXXT)
Short stint onroad:
  • Gearbox (JRX2 5 link)
10L3 oval - 6 cell stock, 4 cell stock, 6 cell open (crazy)
    OFNA Z-10 - stock
    TC3 - stock
More recently offroad:
  • Nitro Monster truck (TMaxx)
    Nitro Truggy (GS SUT)
    1/10 Nitro Stadium Truck (XXXNT)
    2wd Stock (B4, then X6, then RB5..now RC10 Goldie 6 gear)
    2wd Modified (RB5...now building RC10 Stealth)
    4wd Modified (Academy SB, XX4, X5, XX4WE, ZX5, XX4WE, X5^2...none now)
    Spec Slash
    Open Slash
    2wd Stock Short Course (Blitz)
2wd Open Short Course (Blitz ESE)
Cars in BLUE I still have...I plan on letting the Short Course sit for a while and run some 2wd stock/mod.

My favorite would have to be Sprint Car/2wd Modified Dirt Oval...but no dirt oval in SoCal.

Currently it's like this in order of favoritism:

1/10 electric late model (oval)
1/10 electric sprint car (oval)
1/10 13.5 2wd (offroad)
1/10 open stadium truck (offroad)
box stock mini T's in a friends driveway (we lay out a hose in an oval, there's about 5 of us)
M03 TCS rules
everything else.

It's crazy to think that Socal, this "hotbed" of racing, doesn't have an oval scene. Racer's Haven in Bakersfield recently downsized, giving up their shop but keeping the track, and Hot Rod Hobbies in Saugus recently dropped paved oval from the schedule due to spotty attendance. Two years ago Sun Valley Speedway in L.A. closed when their lease expired and Revelation Raceway near Pomona dumped dirt on a world class paved track when off road was on the rise. Gas truck oval used to be the only way I raced on a dirty track.

We used to have ovals...RCRC (Ascot), Ranch had the onroad and the dirt oval out back, Outlaw in Highland, One Stop in Cerritos. I know I raced in Del Mar (dont remember the name), Encino (velodrome?) and a few others...I read they still run @ Encino, pan car oval.

There is a carpet track in Chino that I hear runs oval also, one of these days I need to stop by there and check it out.

You mean people have time to race? With 2 little boys and trying to deal with the hobby shop I help to run, I don't have free time.

I don't even have time to test the products that I have in store let alone R&D parts is non-existent. Oh well, a new year is upon us, perhaps I will get some scheduled WORK TIME to play!

If/When I get the time:

- 2wd Mod- B4
- 4wd mod- B44

At my store, I have a carpet drift track in the back of the store so my TC3/TC4 gets alot of use.

Yes, HAD time to race, LOL. I beat on the Slash out front with the boy once in a while, but will do my best to attend the JBRL series this year (8 races, one a month at local SoCal offroad tracks). I probably get to hit a track about a dozen times a year (3 kids, youngest with special needs).

I feel ya Momo...at least you get to be in a hobby shop...

When I told my friends/family that I wanted my Sundays free to race RC cars, the reaction was "come on, you would rather do THAT then spend time with us?" When I switched stories and told them I was playing golf they were all delighted.
