Another ebay score, help with vintage electronics

Post by aconsola »

I Bid 101.01 on this with some time to goand , won it by $.03,

It looks pretty good, the electronics are g-plug I've never seen one of these receivers before, fp-r2h micro
Does anyone have instructions for the ESC? it is a zeta "micro"or know what all the extra wires are for?
I've also never seen that style tag on the body package.
The box has the edinger address. The only extra hole in the chassis is for the ESC switch.

That's a good looking car. sorry I don't have answers to your questions, but I have heard that adding toggle switches like that might cause a problem with the ESC. Don't know how true but Im sure one of the other guys could say for sure. Good score

The ESC is a PDI Zeta and I do have the instructions for it somewhere. I promise I'll look for them but the extra wires are for the programmer (the small female plug) and the other two wires are for 4 cell operation.
Hope that helps.

Oh and if anyone was wondering about me being MIA, I took a three month vacation and spent the summer in Italy but its great to back.

I've got one of those receivers, missing all labelling. Three remote G-plug sockets, right? Did you get a Tx with that car? If so, what is it...? And what the heck is the other car???

Nice score... I've got a similar Edinger car... Also been hacked for the on/off switch, but the type for a MSC, with a slide toggle.

Looks like they couldn't find o-rings for the shock tops...

Joeyskates, and Rc chick, thanks for the info.

Temple, it does have g-plugs. the servo is an s-32 and the pdi is a micro pro model zmp. It did not come with a transmitter, that was going to be my next question. I started in RC after the G-plug had been mostly phased out, if anyone knows what tx matches this rx let us know.

I've never had these ballcups before either, they are round on the rod side and hex shaped on the cup side, I assume they are the earlier type.

I just tried the radio gear out and it works fine. The motor is a trinity monster horsepower modified, is there a way to tell how many turns there are on these? It is pretty quick just runnning around the basement.

I'm going to guess the Tx would be a Magnum Junior (1st gen)... I've got a few of them...but they're kind of a dime a dozen. The hard part is finding one with the battery tray and cover.

The ballcups are known as the "half-round" type, used up until the early days of the CE, Team cars and very, very early 7001 trucks.

I liked the original boxy magnum jr the best of any of the generations. I got rid of my last junior earlier this year as all I use is my 2pl or spektrumified radios.
I still have an original sport. It has no antenna, battery box, battery cover or steering centering spring. My 15month old son chews on it and carries it around while my daughter and I drive our TLT's.
Thanks again for the info.

One more thing I learned tonight: 100psi of air works great to get off dust and dirt, and it works just as well to blow off flaking crome from 20 year old plated plastic wheels.

It is a falcon. The front is cracked and looks like it was dipped in CA to fix it. It was built with plastic bushings and is pretty beat with flat rear tires. It does have full radio gear which tested out fine, but no body.
I'm not sure what to do with it.
