Wow, been quiet on the board…

Here’s a real simple, but delicious hamburger sauce:
2 parts Ranch dressing
1 part Frank’s Red Hot

It also works well on a delicious Ultimate Breakfast Sammich:

Sausage Patty
Fried Egg
American Cheese
Pickles
Buffalo Ranch Sauce
Toasted Bun
My daughter said “That looks disgusting!”

Luckily the 3 mile pre-dawn jogs keep my cholesterol below 160.

I like the way you think.  j/k

Officially I'm making chicken fajitas for new year's(a family favorite), but unofficially I'm making myself some hot wings. Whipped up the sauce a few minutes ago. I don't measure so this is just rough from memory, but...

3/4 C Melted Margarine
1/3 C Frank's Red Hot
1T Tabasco Chipotle
1t Liquid Smoke
1T Steak Sauce
1T Garlic Powder
1/2T Onion Powder

Normally I fry them unseasoned 'til cooked, then sauce 'em and throw them in a 350 degree oven. Today though I think I'll get the grill red hot, toast the skin a bit... and then sauce them and finish them in the oven at 350. Anyway I'll let you know if it's any good.

Sorry, just bored and I can't sit still long enough to watch tv very often so I have to entertain myself with boring posts that no one will ever read.

If anyone cares to try this they turned out very nice. Only thing I'll do different next time is throw in about 1/2 t chili powder to give the flavor a bit more depth. Color, flavor and heat were right there though. A bit on the mild side as planned since I knew my wife would want a couple and she doesn't quite have the same taste in heat that I do. Cooking method worked out real well though and no fryer grease to clean up! :D

exactly the way I cook 'em. my sauce is simple, whole bottle of tabasco & 1/2 stick unsalted butter. fry 'em, soak 'em, roast 'em.

Damn, now I want some hot wings. Thumbs, quick way to satisfy the wife, make your hot sauce and a 2nd tub with some honey bbq, wife get the sweet sticky ones while I burn my face off. Sometime I pull a 3rd bowl out and make some teriyaki wings too. Both my boys kill any style of wing I put out there. The 9 y/o usually migrates to the bbq with the wife while me and the 16 y/o end up killing the hot ones.

I was gonna do tri tip sandwiches tomorrow for dinner, maybe we need s side of wings to go with 'em.

On topic...hottest sauce I every tried was Dave's Insanity sauce. It was disgusting, flavor was horrid and by far the hottest thing I have ever attempted to eat.

I will find some of the 2nd degree chips for the older boy, he eats the hot cheetos and chesters fries all the time.

Joey, we use Daves Insanity Special Reserve all the time in our sauce. Seeded Habenero and Ghost chilies sauteed in clarified butter. Finish with salt, lemon juice and dried cayenne with a few drops of Daves. We also season our wings immediately after cooking with crushed garlic and salt after they are fried, but before tossing with sauce.

For me Daves has no flavor by itself (although I do eat it straight on scrambled eggs, but a toothpick dipped in the sauce and the dot the eggs) but it is a great enhancer for other things.

Some of the most flavorful hot sauces I've tasted are various kinds made in Mexico using mostly habanero chilies. They don't look fancy or anything, nothing broadcasting how "loco hot" they are, they're just plain-looking bottles of green or red habanero hot sauce. Add 5 or 6 drops of one of those to your favorite bowl of soup and you'll feel the heat. I'll have to update this topic with some actual brand names later.

Here are some good Mexican hot sauces; the ones I use often are the 2 on the right side. The Zaaschila and Lol-Tun are very nice--the Lol-Tun comes in a red & green version, but I'm all out of the red one--and almost out of the green too.

Here's most of my hot sauce collection, many I chose just because of the hilarious, ridiculous names. I'll have to take a picture of all of them lined up to show the names.

I like Tapatio, growing up in San Diego it was what most of the Mexican joints had on the table. And I was really surprised that Jim beam hot sauce is pretty hot but has a really good flavor to it. I have some habanero hot sauce i got in Lynchburg, while visiting the Jack Daniel's distillery, that is pretty decent. but I mainly got it cause it came in a mini jack bottle.

Nice collection! Do you have a bottle of Ass Reaper?

Like Charlie said, a toothpick of Dave's Insanity goes a long way. I usually put a drop into my taco mix, Kung Pao chicken mix, and hot wing sauce.

Here's a good hot dog recipe that my dad and I have been eating since I was a kid:

- Toast the buns in a toaster oven & add sharp or mild cheddar cheese when they're almost toasted. I've experimented with different cheese, so use what you like.
- Deep fry, bake or grill the dogs (I prefer turkey or fat free).
- Mix a drop of Dave's Insanity sauce with Kraft creamy horseradish sauce, then spread on toasted buns.
- Sprinkle dried crushed red pepper seeds on the buns, then add the dogs and enjoy.
*Add jalapeno pepper rings/slices for an added kick.

No, but more than a few of those have "ass" in the name...some of the funnier ones are "MegaSoreAss" and "Ass in Hell" sauces.
