Tires and wheels for DS

Post by joel45acp »

I recently purchased a NDS and I'd like to convert it to electric using a slightly used 10T chasis. I will need some tires and rims. What do you gents recommend I'd get? I do plan on racing it every now and then. Thanks in advance.

A lot of guys myself included are using touring car wheels and tires. The front has to be converted over to use a hex. You could check the associated site I don't have the link handy but it tells you how to do it using hpi and traxxas parts. I used the front hubs from a sc10 it works perfect.

Converting a Nitro to electric?....makes my hairs stand on end (im a nitro type of guy, lol).

I have two nitro DS's that i modified to use modern day tires and wheels .

The original DS tires I have are distorted and semi dry rotted; they wobble when they spin and makes the car feel like a shopping cart with bad wheels (not cool)

I intend on running both cars so can't have wobbly or lumpy wheels.

Here is the link raserx08 had mentioned.

Myself, I used a proline SC10 hub adapter kit part number 6068-00 (a now discontinued item).
The adapter require some modification to fit but works great once done.

Now both my cars sport modern day and easy to replace wheels and tires.

raserx08...can you list the part number and items you used for you conversion? I have one more DS to convert and cant find anymore proline adapter kits, thanks.

Well joel45acp...i hope this helps a bit.

let us know how your project turns out and remember to post some pics....

Nice DS's Lobo I like that Camaro body you used and the Mustang looks good too. I don't remember the part numbers off hand but what I did was checked the chop shops on eBay that's where I ended up getting mine from because all the hobby shops and stores were always out of something I needed. Check on eBay I think the seller I used was Lumidave they where I think $28 shipped and it was also cheaper than getting the parts 1 by 1. The only thing you need to do is drill the c hub to I think 1/8 and they bolt right up.

you can use the B4(.1, .2?) hex front end parts. check rc10johhny's threads he's got a couple adapted. just need to drill out the hinge pin for 1/8"

Thanks for the compliment on the bodies raserx08. Its funny you mentioned Lumidave as i have him saved as a seller on my ebay account, lol.

THANK YOU for making the connection, i just went to his store and found a set. Now i can update my third DS and some of my GT's.

This is a GT with adapters and some traxxas wheel/tires.

Hey Guys...

I just want to point out that your method or i should say Johnny's method is the easiest way of adapting 12mm hexes on your DS; or GT's for that matter.

I tried a set of SC10 hubs on my electric DS and another set on a GT and it was simple yet elegant since they are all associated parts.

new wheels and new tires...
