boys and girls,
I was thinking of buying a saddle pack for an old school 4wd car I'm building, but I was looking around at the batteries I already have and I found I have 2 almost new (same brand, same type) of 1S packs from my now sold 12th scale car.
Is there anything to stop me using those setup like saddles ?
perhaps physically they might just be the wrong shape, but other than that, any reasons?
The only problem with using standard 1S packs is that they are usually sized around the old 4 cell packs so you might have a problem due to their physical size. Saddle packs are just two 1S packs, just at a smaller size.
The German Masters pro10 racers usually use two 1S packs as saddles, so they have 6000mah+ 2S batteries.
so my car arrived today sporting a thunder power 5000 mAh 1 cell 3.7v and i was wondering if i bought an identical pack could i then use them as a saddle pack the pack reads charge as a single pack.
Ive noticed a few old Cats with the white saddle pack chassis. Was this an upgrade? I seem to remember my XLS had a stick pack chassis when it arrived. I thought that the saddle pack concept wasn't really embraced until around the thine of the...

Thanks for all the advice. By the looks of things following the instructions in this link would be a wise move....:
was speaking with a good mate today and the subject came up, we both use ip branded lipo's and have had the problem with pack's swelling up and splitting. we are wondering how to stop this and also what is a brand of saddle that slot's straight into...

when and if i ever use my 870c, this is the pack i'll be using.
$40 for a saddle lipo is pretty good in my opinion. now i haven't used their lipos yet, but their nimh pack worked very well.
very good price indeed, looks like the are hard wired...
So, I haven't really ran my 10T in a really long time... Basically, it's been sitting in a box for nearly 10 years waiting until my son was old enough to race with and not destroy it.
Recently I had a water event in my garage which took out alot of...

Sounds like I have interesting options... I don't want to break stuff to quickly. I'll try the setup you initially suggested...
i saw a good price (imo) on an smc saddle lipo to use in my yz10 at the nats. but, the jumper wire looks kinda short. does anyone have one of these packs, and a yz10? do they fit?
even a measurement of the jumper wire length would probably work.

They will almost drop right into a YZ10 870C. I run 4900 SMC's in my B44 and with a little modification they will slip right into the Yoke. First the jumper wire will have to face forward, then the motor side battery hold downs are almost a perfect...
A couple of years ago Woober Goober was good enough to lend me his saddle chassis plate for the AYK Boost/Radiant 4WD buggies. I then took the chassis to an engineer who struck up a deal with me to have all the plate work drawn up on C.A.D. It cost...
