Nice work; like new again! What was the difference in the kits and the RTR GTs? I grabbed an RTR about 4 years ago. Drove it a few times then off to the shelf. What year were these kits released?

Many RTR kits came with bushings and dogbones instead of universals, also the shocks were anodized instead of being teflon coated.

The RTR GT debuted in 1999 which was the first flat chassis GT I believe.

The tub style chassis trucks were late '93 I think. Been a while since I looked at the magazines and history of them. The early tub trucks came in team and sport versions only. No RTR as RC10th mentioned.

I can now pretty much call these done.

All that's left to do is finish the throttle and brake linkage on the new built (blue) truck. Both engine bearings have now been replaced on the engine for the burgundy truck, which has now been installed.

I was going to paint new body and use the burgundy truck for a 100% period correct runner but couldn't bring myself to do it, hence why I'm building the "cure for the itch" GT. It came out too nice and compliments the blue one. If I replaced the chassis with a new one the truck would look new.

These will sit proudly on my shelf and have been extremely fun and challenging to complete. Thanks again Todd for the opportunity to own these, they are in good hands.

I really have no idea as it was such a long process, but as a good guess I'd say about 40 hours for the two. Most of the time was in the cleaning and prepping of everything.

Assembly was quite was fun following the manual as it was like building a new kit.

Those are awesome. My blue chassis GT truck is that clean. I'm getting the body for mine painted really soon. I just have to get a few more details to get ironed out for it. Will post pics when done.
