Frankenstein Lives
I've finally decided to do a stadium truck after all these years. So I'm looking over Ebay and found a few of the newer associated trucks. I didn't want a first gen 10T, simply because it's too much like the RC10, and I don't want another one. Anyway, I find a T3 dirt cheap with servo, an Epic 19 turn brushed motor, Novak GT7 ESC, and a Losi 2.4 Ghz receiver. The photos online looked a little strange (remember, I don't know trucks), but I threw in the minimum bid and won it.
Now I get the thing and find why it looked strange: the owner must have wrecked it, and replaced the ENTIRE front end (shocks and all) with T4 parts. Needless to say, the T4 won't fit a T3 nose plate, but this guy tried....badly. It's the worst hack job I've ever seen on any RC car. (If he's a member here...SHAME, man. )
At least the gearbox, CVDs, shocks, suspension arms, servo and motor are in good shape (worth the price paid).
So now my clean up/tighten up/new body and bash is going to become a full-blown rebuild. Time to break out the dremel and calipers...updates as they happen.

How's this for hack job? Got this in a 10t carcass a few years back lolRuss Winn wrote:the owner must have wrecked it, and replaced the ENTIRE front end (shocks and all) with T4 parts. Re: Frankenstein Lives
I stand corrected...THAT'S the worst hack job I've seen.
Don't expect a lot from the rebuild. It's just going to be a basher anyway.
BTW, here's the original Ebay pics:

Re: Frankenstein Lives
The track by me closed down sometime ago, and it's not worth it for me to drive over an hour, after work to go racing.
Here's the first attempt at a chassis mod to get the T4 front on properly. I may rework the G10 piece to extend to the rear mounting screws on the top plate holding the steering linkage. I also had to make a new shock tower to have a place to bolt the top support plate.

Re: Frankenstein Lives
Why don't you use a stock t3 front? Those parts are available... If you really want you can still use your t4 hubs with small modifications. That would be much easier wouldn't it?

Re: Frankenstein Lives
The first thing I started doing when I got the truck was look for T3 parts.... I found they were few and far between most everywhere I've looked (mainly, the front bulkhead). Besides, I'm now determined to make this work out. So far, so good.

Re: Frankenstein Lives
T3 parts are still readily available direct from team associated new
Front bulkhead.

Not to deter you from what you are doing as I love to make due with what I have sometimes, I myself am stuffing t2 parts into a 10t tub.. What a hot mess

Re: Frankenstein Lives
Hey, thanks for the link. I've tried Tower, Stormer, Amazon, Ebay and all their stores....I never thought to go to Associated directly. (I feel like an idiot now )
I'm still going try my fabrication job first, but it's nice to know I now have a back up plan. I was also offered some other parts (very nice gesture...thanks Dave), but I'm not going to be in need of those, with the current plan.

Re: Frankenstein Lives
Frankenstein is going on hold for a while. I just got a very pleasant surprise from Knucklebuster (thanks, Chris...I owe you big time!)... So now the truck will be built as a proper T3. I'm still going to tinker with the project, since my front end mod worked out. Who knows, I may end up with 2 trucks before it's over with.
Updates to follow...parts are in the mail.

Re: Frankenstein Lives
So while Frankenstein is still in the lab, I managed a few goodies for the proper truck. I'm using RPM revolver rims with HPI street treads, and a Parma 72 Chevy truck body. The truck is very stable and pretty quick off the line, but I think I'll swap out the 13.5 motor for the 10.5 I have in the TC4. Enjoy
