Big bore springs on standard bore shocks

Post by fredswain »

I've been wanting to run big bore springs on my JRX Pro for a while due to the variety of spring rates available. I've got tons of big bore springs and this way is far cheaper than converting the car to big bore shocks. I modeled these up and am going to print them to see how well they work. I decided to use the clamp style for now as I'm not sure how well the threaded version would print out. I'll try those later to find out.

I've completed a model tree for the big bore spring adapters for standard bore Losi shocks. It has a set of 4 of each part. There are 4 collars, for those who have the smooth bodies. There are 4 bottoms, for all shocks. Finally, there are 4 rings. These rings are for those who have the threaded bodies. These rings slide on under the threaded rings. If using the plastic threaded rings, no modifications are necessary. If using the metal threaded rings, you can either remove the o-ring and install them upside down so the flat surface is against these rings or you can grind off the existing spring flange and install them normally with these under them. These could just be slid on under with no ring modification but it does take up a bit more space. If you have one of these shocks, you can easily see what I mean.
