early rustler rebuild for my son
was flipping pages on ebay looking for goodies and came across this auction
listed as VINTAGE-RC-ELIMINATOR-GOLD-HPI-TRAXXAS-WILD-WILLY
https://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-RC-ELIMINATOR-GOLD-HPI-TRAXXAS-WILD-WILLY-/163211076343?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=TobmlFJxzaKdXS1%252FUDBW5l%252B3gG4%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc
I wanted the bloink parts and since the traxxas car looked complete and would make a good beginner basher for my son . I bought the lot
after taking it to the lhs to buy some parts
(missing steering parts and top plate )
and having all the traxxas guys say things like "wow that's old" "hey its a classic" , I started to feel old lol
its a early run rustler (I bought a bandit brand new when they still came with a msc)
but as far as I can tell there is really no difference between it and the new vxl version other than metal gears in the trans and a few changes to the drive shafts
I got it rebuilt
and printed some green accent parts on my 3d printer
took a 3d file from a trx4 bumper and modified it to bolt to the rustler (printed in pink for now but will be green once I get it how I like it
stuck some old electronics in it that I had lying around and a old duratrax evader stock 20t motor (my son is 3 this is probably still to much power lol)
and she is up and running
picked up this on ebay as well
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Traxxas-Rustler-2WD-1-10-sc-truck-chassis-UPGRRADED-/132759272262?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&nma=true&si=TobmlFJxzaKdXS1%252FUDBW5l%252B3gG4%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc
since it looks pretty chewed up the plan is to
swap the body ,alloy parts, and rpm parts to this rustler , and mabey the trans (if its not beat to bad) and strip the rest down to my parts bin for spares if needed

Re: early rustler rebuild for my son
ok lol gave up on waiting on the parts truck
hit up the hobby store today and finished her up
pretty sick looking truck for my 3yr old lol kinda regret saying its his lol
printed some shock spacers and did a final print of the bumper
bought the parts to update the front axles to new hex style
and picked up the body and tires
my 3yr old "helped me paint" the body then him and our 13 yr old put the stickers on it
he bashed the crap out of it used up 2 4200 mh packs with only one 3d printed rear tie rod breaking
