Hi!
This is my first post. Let me introduce myself; I started my hobby back in about mid 80's like many of you with the GRASSHOPPER. Eventually I was removing motor tabs to change timing, soldering extra cells, crashing it, I was hooked!
My background: 15+ years as a mechanic, 20 years in Electronics and 5 years as a Machinist.
Anyway, to feed my "habit"; I got a job in a Hobby Shop demonstrating R/C toys to customers; cool gig! My first serious RC car was the Kyosho Optima or Ultima, can't remember, 4wd. But, I always wanted an RC10!
Fast forward to the present. I haven't messed with them since the early 90's. I was designing and building my own power mosfet controllers, boosting radios, winding my own motors, etc. And recently, someone gave me 2 Gold Pan RC10's of which I sadly know nothing about and that is why I am here.
What exactly do I have and what should I do with these? My purpose is pure driving fun; no competition.

Hello and welcome aboard.
From your photo, it appears that you have a 6-gear tranny (left) and a Stealth tranny RC10.
Anyway, might I suggest a little trip down RC10 memory lane? Here's a link that will help you identify what you have, approximately when it was made, etc. It's a good place to begin.

That bumper/nose plate set up is a first that I've seen, interesting.
Those both look like a good base to build some fun cars.

I was old school - when old school wasn't cool !
