Help with Fantom 4WD

Post by limestang »

With the soon to be released ReRe Fantom, I decided to pull an original I had started a few years ago. I can’t locate the front dog bone/swing arm. If I can get a photo and dimensions I may be able to fabricate. I’m also not sure how the diff action works in the front. Below is a link to the manual as well as an image.

Thanks limestang

Not the best pics, I'll try get some better pictures if these aren't good enough.
one end looks very similar to a standard optima dog bone, the other is like a very subtle hex. I don't have a good way of measuring it. I'll see what I can do tomorrow as far as measurements go.

Cheers
Rob

One thing to note. The Fantom in the instructions is a MkII that has the sprung front end. The small dogbone axle is rounded on the end that fits into the one way bearing to allow up and down movement. You can see this really well in Rob's photos. The re-release Fantom is a MkI with no front suspension. I'm fairly certain that the same part on the MkI's are cylindrical as they don't have to move up and down.
Chris.
