I found this interview with Masami Hirosaka and his protege Naoto Matsukura on YouTube. Masami gives a nice recollection of his experience, specifically the 2WD portion of the 1991 IFMAR World Championships held in Detroit. Some interesting tidbits in there that most of us already know but still interesting to hear it from Masami himself.

At that time wheel offsets were pretty small. So to increase the suspension length you needed to stretch the arm and get the added length wherever you could. That meant putting the inner mount closer inboard.

I'm really lucky to found somwhere in Germany the old Schumacher Boss Cat prototype car from Detroit World 1991 .
This is I think the Jurgen Lautenbach car 8)

The most important evolution from the ProCat was the Belt position on the upper...

Got a package today from a quite legendary mechanical engineer from the RC history... Content is supposed to be worth 3000 Yens, in fact less than it cost to ship to me :mrgreen:
