I don't know which one, but I'm curious. I haven't been able to figure it out.

Playtron was also somehow related to Varicom, known for the Big Grizzly monster truck.
The lynx and Doberman were brothers, one was 2wd and one 4wd, but I don't recall which was which.

Playtron Lynx.
You can tell because it has the front gearbox in there, you can see the input for the shaft drive.
Classing the Lynx and Doberman as a "knock off" of the Frog is like suggesting the Associated B2 was a knock off of the Losi JRX Pro SE. The only similarities are the design choices of a spaceframe chassis and rear trailing arms, both concepts were used by many manufacturers in the early eighties.
Oh boy, look what I started.
Thanks for the information though!

...And judging by the lack of center shaft, I probably employed the same one-way front-wheel hub inserts as the Grizzly... which tended to fail in short fashion, making the center shaft redundant for a car that's suddenly only 2WD!
Picked up a “vintage white plastic chassis and parts” on eBay and I was surprised that it was in pretty good shape. I quickly disassembled it and gave it a simple Dawn and hot water bath in the ultrasonic cleaner. I didn’t go crazy with it. One...

I can fully understand and agree with not running it but at the same time it always seems a little sad not to , I don't think I'll ever be able to restore and then not run a car at least once gently , I just don't have that kind of restraint .

Hi all,
For a while now I've been collecting parts and cars from all over the world from a Japanese company called Playtron. I've been focussing primarily on the Viva Arizona Buggy (a sandrail made for the US market in 1982 or 83) and the much less...

Weird. The frame is somewhat reminiscent of the AYK Bobcat/Buffalo, but with a gas motor out back.

You have a LXT and a XXT. The LXT is the one with the grey transmission. That grey transmission is the retrofit XX transmision. It also has the hydra drive attached next to the spur gear. (the big black disc thing)
New find that I just purchased just waiting to receive it, never saw this Kyosho 1/12 before anybody have any info on this model ?

I had that same kit when I was a kid, might still be around my parents house somewhere--that
plexiglass chassis was SUPER flexi, and the Nissan Skyline body was nice too!
