Can anyone identify this motor , I got it in a lot a while ago , TOM is the only mark on it , it has 45° angled round brushes in a triangular holder , adjustable timing and runs very smoothly .

This motor plate is said to be for a B2/B3/T3 and the mount holes do line up. I'm considering repurposing it into a motor plate for a GT gearbox, but I'd like to know what it is before I put some new mount holes in it. There's no flange for a rear motor guard but there is a notch/cutout for something. Not sure if it's actually Losi, Thunder Tiger, Duratrax, or something else.

I was recently rebuilding the shocks on an rc10t2 I recently picked up and found these pistons in the front shocks. I was curious if anyone has any info on them. It looks like the two pieces separate and compress under compression and rebound. They were only installed on the front shocks .

yup that's a Team Orion-Peak (the TOP on the head) SV2-based mill.

The V2 had the fancy and expensive milled-in-switzerland alloy head and the round, 45deg brushes. The SV2 was the budget version with a plastic+stamped metal head.

I actually live 1km away from where those heads were developed, tested, and manufactured, at the old CRF facilily. I recall having a conversation with Oscar Jansen who was the marketing/development face of Orion at that time (while Fabrice Ramella was doing the "real" work... just pulling your leg, Oscar  ) and Oscar telling me very seriously "yes but you know brushless is a fad... the V2's work just as well and require zero maintenance, and they use conventional ESC's. With the V2 on the market, Brushless will never take on" 8)

Those mills work really well btw, and are immune to the major disease of the V2: the brush holders coming unglued... 8)

I have one of the V2's. I'm not a fan of the brush holder either but they look awesome.

this was the ultimate brushed motor... the wear was significantly lower on the brushes than on the traditional "square" brushed mills, and the vibration dampening due to the 45deg angle was unmatched. Instead of cutting your comm every run on the low-wind mills (10 turns and below) you could cut it every 2 runs instead

it got completely obliterated by the wave of BL mills shortly after though :)

I was away from the hobby when all of that happened.

I picked up that can and endbell in a parts lot. I rebuilt it with a Trinity comm and MCI decal.

I can't speak to performance. However, it is very smooth and has minimal brush arc.

I have one of the TOP mills , came in the same lot as it goes but the only word on this one is TOM , mystery to me too but sounds like quite a late brushed motor .

The Checkpoint motors of the same era were also really good and similar in design. The 19T "Money Motor" was awesome.
