So, what did you do RC today?

When it's R/C related, but doesn't fit anyplace else.

While waiting on trans parts that may never arrive, I thought I would get into the body of the Pro-2. Got rough cuts done while at full compression, and hope to maybe be slapping some paint on tomorrow.

I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

Designed this and printed a few. Now can anyone guess what it's for?

It does need a revision though, I went too tall on the top part so I can't use the outer positions without it colliding with the ballcup.
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.

Based on a project I'm working and its parts design, I'd say JRX2 5 link
Frankensteined RC10T3 / Franky Jr RC10GT-e (x2) / A+ stamp / Toy Story RC / Graphite replica / B1.5 BFG 5LTi / Clonewald / Hyper Hornet

It looks like it goes with that shock tower.

Meanwhile my old Cougar has 1 shock mount hole up top and 2 at the A arm. And I still make the wrong choice.

I use the holes that fit whatever turnbuckle that I have at that moment.

Given my "driving skills", it wouldn't make much difference.

Actually last night, but whatever.

Sad little Grasshopper rehab. Maybe rehab is excessive, as it's still a basketcase.

Picked up this thing for $40, shipped. Then I dug through my junk and found enough stuff to piece it back together.

I had a new gear set and rear axles laying around (miss shipment) and pieced together enough usable bearings to get the transmission in order. I just need a pinion gear to go with the Redcat 550.

I modified some Losi Mini JRX2 shocks for the rear. I don't know how they'll hold up but they feel good (all that unsprung weight!) and they clear the motor.

I had some crusty looking HPI truck wheels and some mismatched tires. This works but I've got some wider HPI adapters coming.

I cleaned and greased everything in the front. I had some truck axles laying around and decided to use them with some old Blitzer Beetle wheels and worn buggy rear tires.

I pieced together a servo saver and turnbuckles, and put a Traxxas servo in there. I've also got a Traxxas receiver and Axial esc for it.

Should be, um awesome.

I started installing vintage electronics in my JRX-Pro and had to pause because I’m not sure that I like it.. The bare chassis looks so awesome by itself! Anyone else have this dilemma?

Yup, well it's Mini counterpart anyway.

Is gluing the servo, receiver, and ESC a thing that was common with JRX2 buggies, of did rhis one just have an owner years ago with no common sense? Between Goo Gone and plastic razor blade scraper I think that will be all I get hacked off the chassis. At least the chunks of servo case are gone now.

Yeah, you see the steering servo glued down a lot..and also holes drilled for a zip tie. Goo gone or acetone with a scraper like you’re doing usually works good. Use a thin servo tape to mount the new one down..thick foam tape moves around too much.

That provision on the gearbox is for the JRXT rear body mount.

I finished up the body on my Pro-2. I am almost certain this is the first RC vehicle I have completed aesthetically before finishing mechanically. :( Thank you USPS! The USPS phrase "Moving Through Network In Transit, Arriving On Time" is the biggest joke, and really means they have no idea where it is but is keeping up the charade you are going to get your stuff on time!! Oh well, the truck looks good overall. There are flaws in the paint, body, decals, etc..... but the whole time I was doing it, I kept saying "basher!," but saying it in Peter Griffin's voice when he would "roadhouse!" :D It was a nice reminder that this thing isn't actually built to look good, it is built to kick a$$!

Love the color! I too struggle to complete a body before the mechanics are complete.
