The manuals tell you what screws to use where. None of my Losi vehicles have plain aluminum screws, all are black. The trans case gets steel screws.

Re: Associated Guy Restoring Vintage Losi Buggies
Stupid question #5a:
In that case I will assume that the natural aluminum screws are not Losi screws. As for the black aluminum screws versus steel screws, I should have been more specific. The JRX-Pro manual clearly states that the transmission screws are steel, and it assigns them a unique part number too. The JRX-2 manual, however, does not. It only gives one part number, so are all of the #8-32 screws black aluminum on a JRX-2?

My jrx2 had all black screws. Jrx-t and Junior-t have steel trans screws.

Thanks... I will need to find more black anodized screws if all of these cars are going to be assembled correctly.

Car #1 and Car #2
The first two buggies built from all of the parts simply had to be JRX-2s. Meet the twins!
Interestingly enough, there are very subtle variations between these two.

- The chassis on Car #1 has a white layer in the middle of it (much like a Composite Craft chassis).
- The chassis on Car #2 is all black.
- The side bulkheads on Car #1 are reinforced around the edges.
- The side bulkheads on Car #2 are not reinforced around the edges.

Car #3
I was on the fence about how I wanted to build Car #3. On one hand, there were enough parts to build a third JRX-2. On the other hand, there were enough parts to build a JRX-Pro. Since the JRX-2 is such a cool buggy, I decided that Car #3 should be built as another JRX-2. This time around, however, I wanted to build a JRX-2 with a few era-correct modifications. Although I am missing a few parts needed to properly complete this build, I really like how it has turned out so far.
This JRX-2 was assembled with following modifications from kit form:
*** Although they look cool, I will be removing the orange shock springs in favor of the original kit springs.

- Losi A-7210 stagger rib front tires

Re: Associated Guy Restoring Vintage Losi Buggies
I am following through on my earlier promise to post a picture of the transmission without the tabs on it. I wound up finding a matching motor plate which had also been cut down and drilled to go with it. These parts obviously will not help me with my desire to rebuild the buggies in correct stock form, but they are pretty cool nevertheless.

Re: Associated Guy Restoring Vintage Losi Buggies
Very cool builds - keep in mind, there is a 'mid' model between the JRX2 and JRX-pro, the Proformanance 'upgrade' kit, H arms, longer chassis (like the Pro & JRXT) and a few other little bits and bobs...
I will assume as well that the top of that trans case was smooth'd out afterwards. I've owned a few that had it done well and poorly, that appears very well done - oval car perhaps?

Car #5
I decided to put the build of Car #4 on hold and assemble the Junior 2 instead. This buggy will eventually be disassembled again so that I can thoroughly clean all of its parts, but for the time being I now know exactly what I have.
The following parts will be needed to correctly restore this buggy:

Re: Associated Guy Restoring Vintage Losi Buggies
I am in a similar situation to what ChisaiKuso described above - I am pulling a ton of old Losi stuff out of storage and I am not an expert on what parts are from what model.
- I plan to build a few for the shelf, and sell a few if I can.
Questions:
1) Were the bodies for JRX -Pro, -Pro SE, and Junior-2, interchangeable?
- I can identify the short JRX-2 body, but I have some longer bodies and I don't know what to look for to identify them.
2) And for JRX trucks - did the evolution go from JRX-T, to Junior-T - or were there other models in between?
- For the truck bodies - were JRX-T and Junior-T different? They both seem kinda short/square truck bodies?
- Then the LXT was third model to come out, right? And it's body looks different?
3) Did anyone other than Sassy Chassis make an aluminum chassis for JRX ?
- And did they make both long (-Pro), and short (JRX-2) versions?
I will try to submit some pictures of bodies chassis that I have soon.
Thanks for any further info!

- The Pro SE body is much narrower and only really works on the molded chassis. It has a bump out on the left hand side of the body for clearance for the steering and also sort of a long scoop like feature on the nose
Pro body can be made to fit any of the 3 chassis with extra trimming if you really wanted to and is probably my favorite of the 3 for it's simple and clean design.
Junior 2 is very similar to the Pro but has an added long scoop area like the Pro SE but isn't as narrow as the Pro SE as you can technically still use 5 link parts with it's chassis. I haven't personally owned one so I can comment on what it would fit on.

- LXT replaced the JRXT as the comp grade Race Truck. It ditched the buggy arms and links for longer truck specific ones among other things. IT also got rid of the giant bumper/bodymount thing the JRXT and JRT used
If you want more about the history of these Losi buggies/trucks check out http://vintagelosi.com/Buggies.html
Consistency is the key I keep misplacing.
