Who made the "off road stock" motor?

Post by XLR8 »

The motor with a blue and chrome label that came with the original RC10.
There are no markings on the can or end bell and no reference to Reedy.
Was it made by Yokomo :?:

The unmarked motor is the earlier (Yokomo) motor, it was used through early Cadillac production (the motor label should have the address on it). The motor with the brush hood heatsinks appeared later, approximately 1989, and was based on the Yokomo Esprit series.

I have two of them. One is clearly a Yokomo, probably a newer version. The other doesn't have any markings, but it has a very Kyosho-ish vibe (the endbell and brush hoods are VERY similar).
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

Thanks Chuck.
I'd seen that thread as well but went ahead and posted the question hoping for further confirmation.

I've also just found the subject motor listed in Lowgear's Ultimate Brushed Motor Guide - he indicates the motor was made by Yokomo:

FWIW, the unmarked motor I have is from an early or mid production Edinger kit - one with 7 rib front tires.

The first iteration was a Yokomo "dry mag", and in 1988 they switched to the Yokomo "wet mag" when it became available.
