@duckhead

Wonderful post. Question: Why did you use 4 washers on the front body post instead of 2 per instructions? I was wondering why I had 2 left over after step 1 and you seem to know far more than I do about the RC10.

Thanks!

Edit- I really hope this doesn't come across as a "RTFM" post. I literally just downloaded the manual this morning to kill time before work starts and saw the answer to your question.

I don't pretend to know these things myself, but I notice the manual for the 40th anniversary kit shows 4 washers.

That's an interesting change from the CC manual that people were having to use since the 40th kit manual wasn't online. Wonder what else has changed. I see they still recommend (and I'm sure include) the wrong shock spacers

Does the 25 years of RC10 thread need a 40th year update?

OK I see it in the manual now (wasn’t published 2 days ago). Still odd that it says “x2” but shows 4 washers. Anyway, keeps us active on RC10talk at least :lol:

:lol: I didn't even notice the big "X2". I just looked at the photo that showed 4 washers. If I was building, I would have tried to use 8 washers :lol:

Reviewing all three manuals side by side, 2013 RC10 Classic, 2023 RC10 Classic Clear, and the 2024 RC10 Classic. Basically they are all reformations of the 2013 manual.

The CC manual has a few errors (as pointed out) but essentially AE removed all references to 'thread lock' and added the word 'Clear' to the plastic pieces. Understandably so, all references to replacement part numbers (from the 2013 manual) have been removed.

The 2024 classic manual is basically a "find and replace" for the 2023 CC manual. Added back are references to 'thread lock' and the word 'Clear' has been removed from the plastics.

Noticeably missing from both the 2023 CC and the 2024 Classic (hopefully an oversight) is any reference to replacement parts. If you look at the 2013 manual not only are part numbers listed in every step, there are nine (9) pages of parts at the end of the manual. I hope AE does intend to manufacture replacement parts.

I too heard people commenting on that washer thing.

What is the general consensus and has anyone reached out to AE?

How many washers, x2 or x4?

its not a critical step. I suspect they are using cheaper, thinner washers so 4 equals 2, if you have 4 washers in the bag Id use them as directed. The old manual was 2, and they made an effort to change of the numbers to 4, so imo that's the latest update.

I tried 4 washers but felt i didn’t get a good purchase on the body post so went back to just 2.

AE - Are you listening? I’ll trade you 2 washers for a paper manual. Hit me up via private message if interested. :lol:
