baja bug

Post by greazy »

I am wanting to build a rc10 baja bug for my next project. I have seen a few comments about needing to shorten the chassis but no real discription of how much or the best way to do it. If anybody has any info or pics of a baja build I would love to see them. Any other input would be a great help.

A search in the RC10 buggy forum using the word "scorcher" has a result of six pages...

Here's one to start with:

the body you use is gonna dictate how short the chassis will need to be, or if it even needs to be cut at all.

Check out Diggley's B2 baja bug. That was a cool one.
The preceding contained opinions, beliefs and thoughts that all may not agree with. No offense was intended at any point. Carry on.

I made one last year and have a couple of things that may help.
1. you should have the body that you want to use, to get the fit right. check the wheels at full cocked left/right, mine rubs some if the body isn't just right when the shocks are compress.
2. slide front nose plate back into buggy for correct wheel base, mark chassis for cut. I used a drumel with cut-off wheel then sanding drum to smooth it out.
3. you may want to leave the original holes for the nose brace tubes, and cut the front off the tubes and retap them. other wise the nose tube line up with the cruve in the side of chassis. See pic below should of done this on mine.
4. you may want to cut the hole front off not just the sides as I did. The hump on bottom of nose plate causes the nose to stick-up more. Again see pictures below I should of done this to mine.

Good luck! and if you need more pic, just send a PM.

This one has a 9.5 - 9.75 in wheelbase and front track = 7.5 in, rear track 8.25 in. I know where you can get one.

In fact I think they are about the same wheelbase so you could have both bodies and swap them per mood of the day

Proline Baja. I don't know how to create link but it's discussed in the buggy forum under the thread called "extended chassis."
