Nice looking buggy,

Has anybody had a problem with brake Fluid making plastic fragile? I used DOT brake fluid to strip paint from a Kyosho Hang-on rider Bike and when finished the paint was gone but the body parts were not usable, during re assembly the parts started cracking apart, every screw i went to install would crack the parts (The parts were assembled and the original screws were re used)

i had to soak it in a tub for 2-4 days to get everything off with a toothbrush, but it went down to bare plastic afterwards no problem, and was like $11 bucks for a LARGE container of it at walmart

Great project Mike. Back in the day I used to drool over this car in the old Tamiya catalogues. I know they aren't the best to drive but the scale and coolness outweigh this cars performance when compared to other racers.
There needs to be a specific class for the SRB's in my opinion. Now that would be neat to see

thanks i always wanted one too, and i swore i would never spend over $200 on one, this one came in right there, wanted a bargain...

i always wanted to have a beach race with a srb class and a "run what you bring" class, meaning anything goes.. problem is lack of good sand tires i think..

Mike the sand racer idea is a great one! Chris (BESTY) and I have taken cars set up for the beach a few times and on the low tide they are a lot of fun. I think those stock rear tyres would be good on the harder packed sand. For the loose dry stuff Ive seen people buff down every second paddle tread of the Grasshopper rear tyres making them a more defined sand paddle tyre. These should work well.

ive actually looked into getting some paddles molded, similiar to the duratrax/tms ones (large paddles), and it would run about $20 per set, and minimum would be 250 sets, which is right around 5 grand, 250 sets and above the price starts dropping, it was something like 500 for $15 and 1000 for $10 each

I like the IRS rear suspension kit you can buy for this car too. If I owned one of these cars that kit would be right at the top of my shopping list

Got the wheels mounted and letters painted today, came out nice, like the alum wheels alot, they are paulhungf's or whatever is it, the guy that makes the cambered SRB rear ends.
Laid down some black on the body also, gonna let it cure, spray cage red, and clear the heck out of it to look like glass

Parts have been powder'ed in matt black, came out awesome! assembly gonna start soon, body still a work in progress and pain in the butt. I know the black maybe a little weird for a SRB but i think it will look great.. shocks are gonna be yellow

I love powdercoated & anodized parts! Ordinarily a Super Champ build doesn't do much for me, but I love that you're taking one to another level with the parts customizing. You're making it your own. I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks with those powdercoated parts reassembled. 8)

got a pargu chassis in black anodized in the works, and the body also, waiting on decals and other parts, but its coming along. wanted something different than just a box art stock car with blue body and pot metal parts... although i always do love originals too.

I heard that the gears from this buggy were direct replacements for the early MIP 3 gear units for the RC10 and that they were directly interchangeable. This car's gearbox may be the template for all gearboxes used today.
