Haha lmao ring, ring, ring "The Bouqet residence, lady of the house speaking"
How bizarre - the program 'Keeping up Appearances' is about as quirkily British as Marmite & PGtips & here it is being referenced on a predominantly US based forum

With regard to your cars - don't sell them if they mean that much to you, try & negotiate to display them somewhere else where you can at least enjoy looking at them.

Ah, the struggle between wife and hobbies. It's a constant battle that never ends. My cars stay in my hobby room and are not displayed in any other parts of the house. My vintage cameras on the other hand, I have two over flowing display cases in the living room. My off road Toyota stuff, it stays in the garage. It's just a matter of what you can get away with and knowing her tolerance

If I really pushed it I could easily display my cars in the more "high traffic" areas of our home. I keep up the act that she won't let me to gain leverage in the buying department. It's a plan I intend to stick with.

if i had a wife telling me to get rid of my stuff id Tell the wife that man has to have a hobby and that yours is going to be drugs, alcohol, other women, or drugs, alcohol, toy cars, it's her choice. to stay in that situation i think id need drugs/alcohol...im not a heman woman hater i can understand a wife not wanting some stuff in the living room, thats ok make her happy .making you sell something you care about that i cant deal with.

Before we moved to the new house I told her I was getting out of racing and getting into vintage. It was agreed between us that I could display 2 cars in the living room as long as I make them look new and build nice shelving for them. So 2 months later I have 2 shelf queens Iin like new condition and go to build the shelves and she totally shot the whole thing down knowing for the past months I spent countless hrs and money for this purpose. I did not do that to throw them in the dingy basement.
