Anyone know what this trans came from? It bolts right into the T4, but the differential is totally different than what the T4 should have had. The Trans case in a bit wider where the differential sits.

Most likely out of a T4.1, T4.2, T4.3 Ready to Run, or the SC10 series of trucks. Someone could have also upgraded/downgraded a ball diff from a Team kit.

Thanks! I just needed a couple small things like bearing for the steering, etc. I grabbed what I needed off eBay.
Gotcha. The local hobby shop has tons of various bearings. Last time I was there a couple months back, guy asked me if I wanted to make a deal to buy all of them. But it was A LOT of bearings.

T4.1 and later ready-to-run trucks all came with the gear diff in your picture (T4.1 & T4.2 Team trucks remained to have a ball diff). But the original T4 RTR came with a ball diff same as the team truck. It's possible your truck was originally a T4.1 or later RTR, or as RC10th mentioned, a gear diff was swapped in.

One thing to note in case you're not aware. Since your trans has a gear diff, that means it has 10 x 16mm outdrive ball bearings in lieu of 3/8" x 5/8" outdrive bearings, which the original T4 had. Associated switched from 3/8" x 5/8" outdrive bearings to 10 x 16mm bearings starting with the T4.1, in both RTR and Factory Team trucks. The transmission cases also have different part numbers depending if they except 3/8" x 5/8" or 10 x 16mm bearings.

Thanks for the info! I have all the parts to put a regular/Team T4 transmission together so I'll run this other one till it quits :)

I am just about finished up with this rebuild. I kept the chassis, trans, shocks, steering servo, and CVD's/rear hubs, just about everything else was replaced with new parts. I am waiting on a new gear set, tires, and front Factory Team aluminum brace. I also need to pick up a new radio/receiver. I picked up a Reedy 3300kv and 600-BL ESC for a good deal. This will just be a basher anyway. I'll post pics when it's 100% done.

Nearing the finish line! Couple more small things and body/paint and it'll be ready to run! Pretty happy with the results.

Coming together nicely. I went with proline trenchers for my T4.3 as well, good all-around tire for bashing.

I picked up a JConcepts F-150 body designed for an RC10T hoping I could make it work. It took some effort to get it to work, but I am happy with the results. Now I gotta paint it. I bought a cheap Harbor Freight air brush kit to experiment with. I have never used an air brush before so it should be interesting.

Nice. I have the same Jconcepts body, could you post an up close pic of your front body posts?

I had this old Kyosho body and wing mount kit laying around and found two body mount posts in there that were meant for 4-40 threads already. I drilled the holes deeper, then cut the tips off, then just mounted the tips to the top shock tower holes. It required me to move my shocks to the inside holes though. It's about all I had laying around that looked like it might work.

Generally the 10T and 10T2 bodies fit the T4's stock body mounts, the SC10 front body mounts on the T4 give you slightly more length if you need.

Here's mine on a T4...... it has a slightly different front tower but that wouldn't matter.
