i can't say i've ever heard of a brandywine lexan paint. so, i'd just find a bunch of old pics of jr's car, some assorted colors, and start custom mixing.

maybe metallic red with some copper or bronze.................... a little bit of black? i don't know, but that's the fun of painting. :)

I remember getting some of the Red nylon Rims before they were publicly available from a certain driver.....I know I had at least 1 sponsored driver asking WTH did I get a set from?

If memory serves me correctly the orange ones used to crack around the bearings easily....I think I had a zip tye glued in place on my sets I had

Great info Rich. Thanks a bunch for sharing.

Are the above tires prototypes? I actually have a new complete set, can't remember where I got them. I couldn't find any info in any of my old RCCA mags.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

I don't think the tires are proto, but very short production run. Don't see them very often, to be honest I don't even know the name of them.

As far as the red goes, use pactra candy red with about 3-4 light coats, then back with silver. Of course shade around the pinstripe with black with your airbrush. Give it some depth. That's what I used on my VONATS frog. Turned out really nice in color..... I believe it is what you will be looking for.

According to Losi print ads around 89-90 (looking at ad in RCCA May 1990 now), those tires are "directional rears" A-7341. Ad can also bee seen in this thread http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6366

We've discussed these tires before:
http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=5872&hilit=7341
the 7341's that I have NIP are significantly different from the pictured tires above. Is it possible that the tires share the same part#, but that the tread pattern was changed?

Yikes it has been quite some time since I posted anything. I should apologize for some of the pictures being taken down. My bad, I was reorganizing my photobucket album and deleted some. Anyways, I'm not sure if I've posted this one, but this is one of my favorite parts that I have saved.

To test the mold, they shot it with this clear rubber like material. I'm no sure how many we did but this is the only one I have ever seen. I found it when we were moving, this was almost tossed! Glad I kept it.

Rich,

That's a great looking tire. So it looks like the second version of the 4 row tire...judging from the side wall.

I love seeing the pictures of the prototype parts. It brings back old memories of conversations we use to have about "what losi is up to".

Since you here, I remember seeing an LXT based nitro prototype. It looked like it used the stock gearbox and the motor sat (front to back) in the middle of the chassis (where the battery would be located). I beleive there was some type internal transmission inside a 540 sized can that connected to the gas motor. The can then mounted just like the electric version.

Do you ever remember seeing something like that?

Regards,
Roger

Too bad those photos in the first posts are gone. Any plans for re-hosting them sometime?
