if it's at the same track, goosebumps for when it's loose (i use old step pins), double dees, calibers for when it starts to come in nice.

jconcepts groovys up front will always work. some on the newer fronts like ripps and scrubbs also work.

cool progress... i stumbled onto rc soup the other week and read the article, the ridiculous brushless digger videos were pretty funny...

man, if it was me, i would of tried to find another roller that was a stock ce, or team car, and just chop this thing up for nuts and bolts... just to save some cash

i would of loved to see a total bastard custom using whatever parts were already there... im sure this is gonna be a sweet, over the top, best of everything (expensive and kinda boring) bolt on runner... no offense, i just saw that god awful red chassis and had my fingers crossed for something ingenious and custom... not another buy-bolt on fest...

btw, those front blue shocks are traxxas with who knows what company spring collars..

Are there any parts you don't plan to replace?
. . . you have Associated Green Slime for brains. And not even new Green Slime, but old gooped out Green Slime.

Those are AE bottom loaders for sure, traxxas were a different finish and had rounded hex corners like newer AE shocks, plus much taller caps.

Ya, to be honest I should have done a little more research before buying this car.. but the price was right.. so.. I will likely part out the parts I don't need on ebay or something down the road when I know what I'm not going to use. I thought the MIP tranny was worth while, but I don't want to risk blowing it up if it's rare..

As I'm looking at it.. I will probably be using the rear bulkhead, the rear arm mounts, the front uprights and steering knuckles, rear hubs.. I would use the motor plate and nose plate, but was given the matching black ones with the chassis.

Ya, it might end up a little boring with all the bolt on's.. so much on this car is terrible though (at least to my standards lol). The turnbuckles/rod ends don't match throughout, the bellcrank is terrible, it has bushings, the stub axles are shot, it's got the short front arms, etc etc..

Who knows.. I may end up using the stock rear arms and shocks afterall? The Kyosho shocks would be nicer.. We'll see what happens.

I wouldn't put much stock into them being blue.. it's hard to tell but I almost think they were painted at one point.. They look identical to the rears as far as caps, lower spring retainers, shape of the body, etc.

agreed DEFINITELY associated just from the shape of the shock cap. It's really hard to tell how the finish is, but I'm guessing someone might have painted them with a lexan blue, because it looks almost like a candy/translucent finish. If it is paint, they actually did a decent job with a uniform finish. could also be a homebrew anodizing job.

Not yet. I'm actually at Motorama right now. Finished an interview with the MIP team about an hour ago.

Figured I would update this.. been busy covering events for the site.

I've been talking to a local powder coater.. I'm thinking about having the chassis stuff powder coated. What do you guys think?

Should I run the Kyosho shocks or refinish the stock ones? I'm torn on this part as well.. I can see the benefits to both.
