Another option is to use shorter CVD's. There's quite a variety of Lazer CVD sizes available; 62.5, 65, 68, 73 and even longer, I think.

Yes, but the MIP shiny CVDs are so shiny! ;)

There is some dogbone plunge from full droop to full compression, so my concern with changing the dogbone length is that they may pop out at full droop.

I found a set of NIP rear hub carriers on eBay for $16 shipped. Not too bad for a vintage part. I'll try that out first and take it from there.

Another idea is to use your longer CVD's, but go with a narrower bearing on the inside of the hub. I think 4mm are standard, try a 3mm thick bearing, that'll give the CVD 1mm more space. And at about a buck a pop (or less), that would be the cheapest solution, if 1mm extra room is all you're looking for.

That's a nice idea. I'll see what I have. Already ordered the hubs, though, so I'll start with those first.

Oh it's certainly not that. I think it's the offset from the hubs, but I will find out for sure when the stock hubs come in.

Haven't had time to make it. I've been spending all week getting ready for a big race this Sunday, and I spent the week before that cleaning/restoring a YZ10. This will be a busy weekend, but I will try to get to it next week sometime.
