Production numbers

As far as the production numbers go take a look at the small piece of paper floating around in your kit. It is a checklist to keep track of the bags during the packaging process for quality purposes. There is a number on there that is hand written. It appears to be the sequence number in order of packing.

I ordered 1 on the 1st day they were available from Tower and another Early last week that arrived on Friday. I have 22XX and 23XX for production numbers. (Can’t recall the last two digits at the moment on each.

What do you guys have? It appears that a run of 2500 sounds likely given those two numbers.

The tooling put them in the hole in a big way to do only this many kits. Count on the bucks coming from selling the spare parts. I wouldnt be surprised if we saw one come out in a different variation. We already have a Black Pan out there that could be another version. Everyone here is so color theme concsious on their builds. Just think how a Blue one would go over. You would all need at least another 2.

Also noticed on that slip the p/n is 6001-1 like the second number on the outside of the shipping boxes.

Well, I guess that confirms it. I agree with a lot of enthusiasts and think it's silly to so severely limit production when there's (supposedly) such a high demand out there but I guess that's why AE/TT is not as big as Tamiya, Kyosho or Futaba.

I don't think it's silly at all considering how many originals are still around and being run that need spare parts now and in the future, and considering how much more money the manufacturer can make on sales of spares than on complete kits Associated have done it right, unlike Tamiya who produces limited rereleases in considerably bigger numbers, but have no spares backup at all.

I'm never going to buy the Classic, why would I when I still occasionally race with an original CE, but it's good to know I can get parts for it again so more likely to get it out on the track more often.

Hey guys I drove up from San Diego to the Associated sale at their Lake Forest location in December. I started talking to one of the employees there and asked him about the 6001 production. He told me that only 3500 kits were produced and that even he was only able to get one for himself. He said AE really just wanted to sell replacement parts and that making complete kits was only secondary. He didn't think they were planning on releasing more kits. Just thought I'd share me experience with you. I was luck enough tp pick up a couple kits after some heavy searching but I'm not sure if I should open them as I have a few rollers that I was able to pick up spare parts for thanks to the re=release.
